Professional Experience:
Nevada Secretary of State, Elections Department, Carson City, NV Apr 2019 - present Business Analyst
Working as a Business Process Analyst on the Elections cybersecurity enhancement Project. The Projects main focus was to facilitate the cybersecurity practices within the statewide elections system. The main areas of improvement was identified to be applying a Statewide Multifactor Authentication system for all the various stakeholders and users accessing the Statewide Voter Registration List. Worked on a number of the company’s systems dealing with applications coming from government exchange sites along with the company’s online application system. One of the main items of the scope was to identify bad data issues in each of the company’s systems, from the legacy system to the new system recently put into use and the systems going downstream. Other Duties involved production support along with problem management and working to make sure that defects and issues in the System would be resolved into ensuring that system issues would not affect the daily business operations and financial operations. Responsibilities:
• Served As a Liaison between the Business and IT Team and worked with the Project Manager to ensure In Scope items were being taken care of accordingly
• Created and Managed Documents that would be in use for the team on SharePoint such as Statement of Work, Issue Logs, Defect Resolution Documents and UML Diagrams.
• Conducted JAD Sessions between Business Owners and Developers in order to understand main issues that were occurring in the systems, obtaining a priority system from the business to see what issues should be in scope and taken into consideration in the upcoming releases.
• Created User Stories and Use Cases to identify requirements that would be forwarded to IT in order to develop and complete within the releases.
• Identified Defects in the system, which would be existing in HP Quality Center or would be created based on Business Priorities and worked with the Development teams in order to make sure that root cause was identified and the code fix was implemented and put into release.
• Worked with IT to develop SQL queries that would identify population of Issues of members having bad data or data that was breaking the business rules that were required in the system. After population was identified, worked with developers to make sure Short term fixes (SQL Scripts) were run to reduce population of bad data issues.
• Worked with the QA teams after development had taken place in order to ensure that Development and coding were meeting requirements and test cases were being met and making sure that Business Verification had taken place with UAT Testing.
• Worked with Project Manager to make sure Any Change Order Request were being taken care of. This would include making sure developers would adhere to business requests and give accurate reasoning to if an item would not be able to be met in scope for the current release.
