Directed the daily operation of the AAR’s Hazardous Materials Training Center at the Transportation Test Center in Pueblo, CO. Primary developer and instructor for the Hazardous Materials Technician Course (NFPA/OSHA level), Tank Car Safety Course (Version II), Railroad Emergency Response Course, and the Hazardous Materials in Rail Transportation Course. Provided instruction in the Highway Emergency Response Course, and Highway Cargo Tank Emergency Response Course.
Directed the daily activities of six instructors, developed the annual training schedule that supported 1000+ students in 71 class/weeks per year, and planned and coordinated special contract courses for the Union Pacific Railroad, the Chemical Manufacturers Association, Union Carbide Corporation, Shell Chemical, and many others.

Nuclear/Biological/Chemical Defense/ Disaster Preparedness Officer
1979-1987
Managed the Nuclear/Biological/Chemical (NBC) Warfare Defense programs, major accident response and natural disaster response programs for Peterson Air Force Base, CO, and Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany. Wrote, coordinated, and maintained the response plans in support of these programs.
Ensured NBC training was conducted for all base personnel and specialty teams including use of protective equipment, monitoring, and decontamination of NBC agents. Trained emergency responders on various aspects of hazardous materials and radiological response including site security, site assessment, reconnaissance, monitoring, decontamination, and media relations.
Responded to and managed numerous aircraft accidents, hazardous materials and aircraft fuel spills, radiological incidents, and other major accidents.
Achieved the rank of Captain and was awarded both the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal.
