Work History
Aug/2018-Present Project Engineer-CNRL-Downstream Projects.
Bridging the gap between planning and execution:
I supported Downstream projects engineering development and execution for Utilities and Offsite. Areas of contribution included leading management of change and technical risk management. Prepared and compiled the construction scope of work, engineering documents and technical specifications (> $27 million). I attended the kickoff meeting. Supported site construction activities, field changes, and project change requests. I was the single point of contact for the construction contract through execution.
Jun/2015-Jul/2018 Business Development Strategy
Modelling business strategies: 1-Energy projects economics-based decision-making, 2-Sustainability project management, 3-Energy projects portfolio management, 4-Projects front end development, 5-Natural gas distribution, 6-Global economy, 7-Driverless vehicles development, 8-Logistics, and 9-Value chain.
Jan/2014 –May/2015 Front End Development Engineer – Shell Canada-Albian Sands
Stakeholders premises conflict resolution:
Front End Development for Shell Canada for Albian Sands facilities (400 MMSCFD) located in northern Alberta. As the Owners Front End Development, I was successful in delivering strategic solutions that enabled the execution team to focus and achieve project execution targets, trending to a TIC cost target of approximately 10% under budget. My portfolio included a myriad of projects (> $100 million.) I was accountable for all aspects of project delivery through the Project’s stage gates and responsible for setting and achieving project cost and schedule targets. I was directly responsible for the review and approval of all EPCM project execution plans, strategies, and the day-to-day management of project cost and schedule through all phases of the project. I was the Owners representative working with Worley Parsons, executing from Worley Parsons’ Calgary office.
Oct/2011 – Dec/2013 Project Engineer-Project Manager –Shell Canada-Albian Sands
Risk and Interface Management:
As a Project Engineer/Manager, I was responsible for the execution of over $40 million in scope for the Ore Preparation, Froth Treatment, and Tailings. I successfully managed an integrated Owner/EPCM organization from DBM through the completion of FEED and the successful completion of Detailed Design on budget and on schedule. Once the Detailed Design was completed, I transitioned into a full-time area construction/project manager at the site. I was responsible for all contracting strategies, from concept to execution, and spearheaded the development and negotiation of all major construction contracts. I was directly responsible for the management of the EPCM Contractor Worley-Parsons, Jacobs Canada and responsible for project execution plans, strategies, and the day-to-day management of project cost and schedule through all project phases. I provided daily guidance and direction in the execution of the project for adherence to project budgets and schedules.
Shell Canada Role’s Highlights
Process Improvement ($14 million): Analysed, assessed and generated options to improve reliability and operability for the following systems: 1-Flocculent injecting and mixing systems ($10.0 million), 2-material handling system ($4.0 million)
Technology Selection and integration ($4.5 million) Improved Tailings bitumen removal process.
Infrastructure and Utility Optimization (~$85 million): Supported premises development of the following: 1-Maintenance complex (~$75 million), and 2-Integrated laboratories (~$10 million.)
May/2008 – Sep/2011 Senior Project Engineer-Engineering Manager – Jacobs Canada
Minimizing rework and Adding value:
As a Senior Project Engineer / Engineering Manager for Jacobs, I was responsible for the Suncor brownfield sustainability program, and the FEED (EDS) scope of work for $100.0 million. Created and maintained engineering budgets and schedules, EDS estimate coordination and the formation of EDS deliverables compliant with Suncor’s requirements.
Jacobs Role’s Highlight
Leadership, Influence and Risk Mitigation: Formulated and Influenced information flow and communication for projects to improve change management and minimize rework. For a total installed cost of up to $100 million, the potential saving was $700,000.
Oct/2005 – Apr/2008 Senior Project Engineer – Bantrel
Managing complexity at Interfaces:
As a Project Engineer (PE) with Bantrel, I was responsible for the Utilities and Offsite for the Suncor Energy Voyageur Project. My responsibilities included the issue of the DBM document for the $4.0 Billion U&O portions of the Voyageur project. As a PE was responsible for the coordination of an integrated multidiscipline project team to execute engineering services for the definition of Undergrounds, Early work, and Water pond required for the Voyageur Upgrader. Created manpower estimates and detailed schedules for Engineering Work Packages (EWP’s) for the EDS and detailed engineering phase of work for the Undergrounds and the Water Pond ($80 million). I managed the project costs and schedules for engineering disciplines and Procurement.
Bantrel Role’s Highlight
Planning and Resource loading: performed: project engineering and interface with supply chain management (SCM) and Construction with a total value of up to $200 million. Helped in carrying out value engineering initiatives and recommended technical reviews.
Leadership, Influence and Risk Mitigation: Orchestrated Ponds & Underground systems design development among three engineering offices across Canada. The total installed cost was $80 million.
Introducing New Technology: Participated in the development and technical needs for Suncor voyageur water treatment, Evaporator and Crystallizer for $20 million.
