I am in search of a career that I can grow with and not only prosper for myself but provide prosperity to my position in the company.
· Presently in 3rd year of 4th year degree for Business Management/Project Management
· I finished 8000 hours of NWCI Training to become a Journeyman Carpenter. I also have had foreman training through the NWCI.
Skills & Abilities
MANAGEMENT
· My management skills have not been utilized as much as I would like. I managed a World Gym in Seattle many years back. I supervised employees I hired from a work source to remove water/fire damage in homes. Most recently I had the chance to manage several crews at a job at the University of Washington building new dorms. I have had apprentices work with me and I was able to direct them in proper construction techniques.
SALES
· I have a few years in sales with tele-marketing. I started as a caller for a national security company handling sales over the phone and setting up appointments for salesmen in different cities. I was the first contact with customers and over the phone.
· As the manager of the World Gym I had to continue to expand the gym through sales and
exceptional customer service.
COMMUNICATION
· In my current role communication is paramount with the higher risk of injuries in the construction field. And of course errors in building correctly. Safety is the number one goal in working a project.
When managing other employees I found it always best to offer advice and be open to questions. A good leader isn’t always telling what to do but offering solutions and listening to other ideas. I do stand by what I have to offer to others that is why I am in a leading role. I never stop learning and I can’t be expected to know everything. That is why listening and learning from others is important in the construction field.
