I applied to Burke's for a supervisor position. I was hired the day after I submitted my application. I have only worked at Burke's since July of this year, 2021. I had been out of work for quite a few years before I started with Burke's. But I only had to train for 4 hours with another associate as a cashier. After training the 4 hours I was able to run the front end a few nights later as the only cashier for the whole afternoon shift until closing. And the store manager asked me just this past week if I would be interested in going to Virginia along with her and a few other employees to help with the opening of a brand new store. So even though I took a few years off in order to be with my son, I am still able to catch on pretty quick. My rolls here have been: helping unload the merchandise delivery truck each week, sort boxes onto correct pallets, along with other associates open all boxes delivered, label clothing with correct sizes and place security sensors on each item within a certain price range, run register, sell Burke's credit card and sign customer's up for our rewards program, help keep items in correct place and keep store clean. Supervised tellers, did performance reviews and made schedule. Opened client accounts and educated them on our products. I also recommended banking products that would help clients make and saving money along with products that would make banking easier for them.
