Globs of grease on the valve underneath of a deep fryer in the kitchen
Black smudges and marks from touching its parts on each place that I was itching
An old belt drive motor with a burnt wire odor and a busted shaft and bearings
That might have been saved had it not been depraved of the lithium grease I’m wearing
On top of a walk in and the dust I must wallow in to reach the condensing unit
My clothes wipe the pipes and the rafters leave stripes to get too and eventually tune it
A sooted wok burner is a real stomach turner from the smell of the drains where I lay
On my back looking up at the ashes and muck that break loose and fall in my face
Ebony hands on a Caucasian man means an hour of pumice and scrub
Dry and cracked skin is a minor thing when it’s a part of the trade that you love…..rondo
