Beginning in September 2016, and continuing to June 2019, I took on hundreds of substitute assignments throughout Humboldt Country. In so doing I have:
• Risen to the challenge presented by a new teaching environment, and the transition from one teacher to another.
• Maintained firm and continuous discipline with students, which has resulted in a positive and collaborative working environment for all my students. Starting in August 2019, and continuing to Summer 2021, I have served as the sole teacher of the Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Grade Science and History Classes at Redwood Christian School.
• Created and maintained six classes with individual assessment and curriculum standards for the course of two full school years.
• Cultivated working relationships with all members of staff which has served both as an opportunity to improve my multi-subject content mastery.
• Implemented a classroom discipline policy which serves to keep distractions to a minimum, but continues to encourage student opportunities to speak their minds.
• Designed projects for the lessons I have created, which help to engage multiple modalities of learning in my classroom, and gives a physical record of student successes and progress. Starting in August of 2021 through to June of 2022, I was the lead teacher for two Subjects, Advance Placement United States History and Ethnic Studies, at Luis Valdez Leadership Academy.
• Worked with the established curriculum and foundation policies of the school to create formal, objective driven lessons that promoted student collaboration and group learning.
• Created classroom environments that got participation and engagement from all levels of student learners, and established firm connections between students and course content.
