Experience
1 year experience at Conveyco manufacturing.
Date started 06 August 2018 – 30 August 2019
Job Experience at coveyco:
Tools used,tape measure,grinder,drill press,hand drill,chalk,chalk line, level,bevel square,centre punch, hammer,scriber acr welding machine and chisel
Boiler maker assistant duties: assisting the boilermaker with task that has been given to him
Building platforms and coveyors alongside the boilermaker
When building a conveyor there are sveral holes that has to be drilled so I would look at the drawing get the material needed for the job start marking out the distances of where the holes should be, once everything is marked out the boilermaker or foreman of the workshop will come around to check if everything is correct. Then I would start drilling the holes either using a magnetic drill machine or a pedestal drill machine
I will also use a grinder to cut 45 degree angles and to grind away any burs on the material
As a boilermakers assistant I would be asked to tack weld for him using a arc welding machine so that the job can be fitted together.
I did rolling of bent up channels because some conveyors will have a half radius bend
I did gas cutting where I used a oxy acetylene cutting method to cut 10mm channels into 45 degrees and also to cut channels onto size.
I helped build platforms where I would cut all square tubing onto size and bevel those that requires a bevel after that I would help the boilermaker assemble the platform together .
I also built staircases where I marked out the holes that has to be drilled for the steps and railings.
