Production Supervisor

Started at the Morrow plant in the casting department and supervised 40 associates. Managed the day-to-day operations of the casting and whiteware department.

In 2009, moved to the Fairburn assembly/distribution plant. Supervised 20 associates.

Managed the day-to-day operations of the tank fitting line, the mixed china line, incoming china inspections, bathtub assembly, the RGA returns, janitorial services, and cardboard recycling.

Coordinated with customer service on back ordered items and products to be processed.

Reduced the number of associates needed on the mixed line to improve efficiency and productivity. Productivity increased 34%.

August 1994 - October 2007 I William L Bonnell Company I Newnan, Georgia

Headquartered in Newnan, Bonnell (bonlalum.com) is a subsidiary of Tredegar Corporation in Richmond, Virginia. Bonnell manufactures aluminum billets and extrusions. Customers are in the automotive, building, consumer durables, and electrical markets. This facility is a Lean / 5S plant that is focused on residential building products.

Production Supervisor, Extrusions

Started as an hourly employee; promoted to production supervisor and supervised 25-30 people.

Managed the day-to-day operations of the extrusion, casting, die repair, tooling and maintenance departments.

Team formed hundreds of different shapes by taking billets (weighing 60 to 200#), heating them to 750-950 F, loading them into hydraulic presses (1600 to 3700 tons), and extruding them through dies (weighing up to 450#) to form aluminum shapes up to 140 feet long. Made an average of 12 die changes per shift.

Led monthly OSHA training; technical skills training and some ISO 9000 training.

Implemented an idea that saved 7 ¢ per pound, which translated into a savings of $250,000 per year.

Member of the safety committee; our department went 475,000 man hours without a lost time accident (ongoing).

Resolved conflicts between team members without getting management or attorneys involved.

When I left Bonnell my department had gone 330 days without a lost time incident. We were over 850,000 hours with no lost time incidents and were about to make the 1,000,000 hour mark for the second time.

Helped to reduced scrap in our department from -12% down to 5.2% over the past two years.

Improved our on time and complete from 87% to 90.2% by implementing an online dispatch and recording system.

1984 -1994 I Bodnar Enterprises, d/b/a Wendy's I LaGrange, Georgia

Managed day-to-day operations of four Wendy's restaurants. Supervised 75 employees including store managers; hired and trained employees including management. Prepared work schedules for all four restaurants.
