WORK HISTORY SCANNER, RECORDS CLERK – PROVINCE OF MANITOBA PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE, MB
1997 to 2019
As a team member of the Real Estate Service Division, for the Province of
Manitoba, I provided the maintenance of electronic files for the agency. My
role was to support staff with retrieving electronic file information as well as
creating all scanned documents including, maps, plans and over-scaled
documents. This also included a quality control component to ensure
consistency of images, identifying missing documents and ensuring naming
conventions and storage were uniform and accurately stored. Scanned
documents were prepared by means of high-speed scanner, and I was
responsible for changing all the paper files for the whole department to
electronic laser fiche. The department provided me with training in order to
operate this sophisticated imaging system. Equipment went through a daily
inspection in order to identify deficiencies and necessary repairs before they
became larger problems. Dealing with a large department and supporting
both internal and external customers provides me with excellent skills
working as a team as well as independently.
STOCK CLERK – UNIVERSAL BATTERY, WINNIPEG, MB
1989 - 1993
As a stock clerk, I would ensure that all inventory has a correct price, label, is
in working condition and safely stored in the appropriate section. I would
need to identify low inventory and order appropriate amounts according to
need. A review of all incoming stock to check for accuracy according to the
packing slip and record any damage. All supporting documentation
provided to the accounts payable clerk identifying any errors or omissions.
The LIFO (last in first out) rule helped to ensure inventory was moving with
the oldest being sold first. I also was able to support customers in making
the best-informed decision based on their needs. Customer service was a
large part of this role and acknowledging customers and checking to see if
they needed support so they could enjoy their shopping experience by
providing the right information at the right time. A large knowledge of
products was required in order to support clients properly. I was able to
receive training on point of sale utilizing all types of transactions in order to
continue providing excellent customer service to clients I had started
supporting with their needs.
