Toyota – Bodine Aluminum

Contract Location: St. Louis MO

Applied Process Engineering principles to improve the performance of the Aluminum Foundry. Established new procedures for the Permanent Mold Castings for Toyota and Tesla Automotive parts. Oversaw the melting and pouring of molten Aluminum, assuring the proper chemistry and quality of the metal.

Key Achievements:

Developed new work instruction to assure successful molding of tensile test bars to be used in the heat treatment of the aluminum castings.

Developed new work instruction for the pressure testing of the motor and gear case castings.

Initiated and completed individual trials to modify the current casting procedure to establish a correct procedure to ensure a quality casting.

Charged with the installation and startup of a new induction machine in the Heat Treat Department. Also oversaw the Metallurgical Laboratory and the Heat Treat Department. Responsible for maintaining production flow through the Heat Treat department and assuring the customer that all of their parts meet their quality standards. Initiated and approved all PPAP trials on new parts. Supervised, scheduled and evaluated 11 employees.

Initiated furnace control procedures to assure that the furnaces were running efficiently and producing quality parts.

Oversaw the installation and start-up of a new induction hardening machine. Trained employees and programmed and initiated all new induction hardening procedures on new machine.
