Extensive background in the maintenance, repair and rebuild parts on aircraft from raw stock of different metals and metal alloys such as stainless steel alloys, aluminum, titanium, magnesium and other materials such as rubber, plastics, and nylon through the use of conventional or computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools and precision handwork. Independently set up and operate most types of conventional and CNC machine tools such as vertical, horizontal boring mills; bench, plain, and universal milling machines; shapers; planers; internal and external grinders; hones; thread cutter; metal saw; and 2,3,4, and 5 axis Numerical Control Mills to perform machining operations. Use a variety of auxiliary machine tool attachments such as rotary vises, dividing heads, taper attachments, magnetic chucks, vertical milling heads, tapping attachments, rotary tables, and others. I have utilized precision handwork to fit, finish, and assemble machines to perform work required by the technical directive. I provided assistance and training on technical matters to artisans of all skill levels. Adjust settings such as coolant flow, speeds and feeds, etc. to obtain correct dimensional tolerances of machines.

On conventional machines, work from blueprints, sketches, work orders, models of parts to be made, or other specifications; determine which machine tool would best be used for each operation to be performed, which attachments are to be used on each machine; and make new job setups on a variety of different types of equipment involving accurate alignment in order to maintain specified tolerances.

Expertise in the operation of Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machines; as well as setting up and operating a wide range of machines and machine tools, such as vertical and horizontal mills, milling machines, gear cutters, balance machines, honing machines, robotics machines, etc.). Possess an excellent knowledge of shop mathematics, operations and procedures; enabling me to determine reference points, radius and more in order to attach the item to the work surface, and to perform other related functions. Competently read and interpret instructions and all trade related references (e.g. blueprints, schematics, plans, drawings and sketches). Utilize work orders, blueprints, sketches, part models or other specifications on raw stock to effectively plan and layout work.

Set up CNC machines using proper tooling components, optical tool setter, gage blocks, micrometers, etc. Proficiently use a variety of precision measuring equipment (PME) such as calipers, inside/outside micrometers, surface gauges, squares, dial indicators and comparators to check for flat surfaces, straight shafts and concentric hole or surfaces before commencing work. Also make use of PME during the work process and upon completion to check dimensions and tolerances. Determining work procedures, machine, tools, equipment, and attachments to be used; proper type and size of raw stock; sequence of machining operations, and the speeds and feeds necessary to attain the required finishes and tolerances. Always ensuring hazardous material (Hazmat), tooling, personal protective equipment and all stands are compliance and safe. Prevent F.O.D (foreign object damage) by sweeping, vacuuming after all jobs to assure the shop is clean and F.O.D free.

Determining speeds, feeds, and coolants, lubricants, or abrasives to be used to cut, turn, drill, mill, bore, tap, ream, lap, hone, shape, grind, or finish an item. Perform precision handwork to finish, fit, and assemble machined parts using various bench mounted and hand held power tools and hand tools such as files, drills, reamers, buffers, die grinders, and scrapers.

Performing the full range of machining operations on most types of conventional or CNC machine tools and their various attachments. Have knowledge of various metals and other materials such as aluminum, brass, bronze, high carbon and alloy steels, chrome, nickel, titanium, molybdenum, super alloys, nylon, rubber, plastics, Teflon, etc. to produce the desired cuts and finishes on each material. Plan and lay out work from blueprints, work sheets, and drawings that may have missing or incorrect information.

On CNC machines, I have skill to setup and operate a variety of machine tools and to debug programs developed by higher grade workers to perform machining operations involving Level 1 complexity. Have knowledge of a variety of machine controls and have skill in making necessary manual inputs to insure accurate dimensional tolerances.

Comprehensive use of written communication to write, edit and update reports, technical directives and other documentation. Accurately complete paperwork to request stock, part, fixtures and cutting tools or to route items to other areas.

Able to maintain successful and cooperative working relationships with co-workers, engineers, vendors and upper-administration, focusing on a common goal to perform all job requirements to the best of our abilities, to share information in a professional manner and resolve issues. Continuously strive to improve workflow and processes.
