PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY
Certified Medical Transcriptionist/Certified Healthcare Documentation Specialist since 2003, seeking home-based position. I started transcription as sideline in 1997 while working for a newspaper group in California. It expanded work to full-time upon returning to Oregon. I am seeking remote transcription, medical writing and/or editing work.
Also veteran journalist.
EXPERIENCE, LAST 10 YEARS PLUS
Precision Transcription, Nassau, N.Y., 2017 to present. I edited and occasionally transcribed a variety of medical reports. Sudden technical difficulties prompt my search for work elswhere.
Acusis, Pittsburgh, Pa., April to August 2013; October 2014 through Aug. 19, 2015; February 2016.
Medical transcriptionist. I transcribed oral medical reports full-time by computer at home. I resumed work because of a shortage of work with DenMed (please see below) and in August 2015 gave notice because of problems involving personal change of Windows versions and problems involving the new platform, WordScript. Before my mistake of changing Windows versions, I transcribed at 99% or better. I gave notice in February 2016 because of technical difficulties involving Acusis only.
Keizertimes, Keizer, Ore., weekly newspaper, June 2008 to early 2022.
Freelance reporter-photographer. I covered mostly sports and education. Reduction in force ended my job.
The Sun, Sheridan, Ore., weekly newspaper, August 2006 until its closure in June 2014.
Freelance reporter-photographer. Covered high school sports and occasionally general news, took occasional photos for weekly newspaper no longer publishing.
DenMed, Salem, Ore, February 2010 to February 2013; resumed August 2013 to October 2014.
Medical transcriptionist. I transcribed oral medical reports by computer at home. The company, which no longer operates, lost the client for which I was transcribing but found clients for me six months later. I left in October 2014 because work became scarce.
OTHER FREELANCE EXPERIENCE
Reporter, Polk County Itemizer-Observer, Dallas, Ore., weekly newspaper, late 2021 to present. Cover City Council of nearby city of Monmouth, occasionally other assignments.
