Dear Sir/Madam
RE: WORK INTEGRATED LEARNING
Mr. Solly H Shilumbu with student number 219083517 is presently in the final year of the Bachelor
of Transport Management Programme/Degree at the Namibia University of Science and Technology.
In partial fulfilment of the Bachelor of Transport Management Programme/Degree, students are
expected to engage in transport, supply chain and logistics related work integrated learning activities
for a minimum period of 360 hours.
We are looking to the industry to provide the controlled working environment in the form of a job
placement opportunity. The student should, however, be exposed to transport, supply chain and
logistics related activities within your organisation. This is to allow the student to gain the necessary
experience with the transport, supply chain and logistics department within your organisation during
normal working hours based on an arrangement between yourself and the student.
Work integrated learning provides the student with an opportunity to work under the guidance of a
mentor within industry in a transport, supply chain and logistics related area. This provides the
student with the opportunity to apply and develop their knowledge of transport, supply chain and
logistics theories and concepts in a practical environment to assist the student in forming new
knowledge and the ability to link the different concepts holistically. The student is thus expected to
play an active part in taking a leading role in learning within the controlled environment your
company is willing to provide.
We hereby humbly request your organisation to consider exposing the bearer of this letter to the
different transport, supply chain and logistics departments/fields in the structures of your esteemed
organisation. Please note that after the initial negotiations with the student, will engage with your
organisation to finalise the relationship with the mentor your organisation has assigned to the
student.
Please feel free to contact me, Ms. Gloria Tshoopara (Lecturer/WIL coordinator — Marketing and
Logistics Department) at telephone number +264-**-******* or email address
**********@****.** for further details.
We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with your organisation as we endeavour to create
strong relationships with industry in developing our students.
Yours in education,
Ber
