I was responsible for managing the Transportation Department. Maintaining drivers files and maintenance files according to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and DOT regulations. As well as fleet maintenance, registration and scheduling daily pick ups. I also scheduled performed the DOT compliance audits for the 13 facilities in the Central Region. I supervised 13 employees and managed a fleet of 9 power units and 45 trailers. I was CDL qualified with all endorsements except passenger and drove/filled in for drivers as needed.
I also trained drivers that were promoted from the shuttle driver position to the Transportation Department for their CDL test.
In the course of my time as Transportation Manager and Central Region DOT Auditor my Transportation Department got the 1 year most improved award, as well as the 5 year DOT 100% compliance score award. My first 2 years audits were a 97% and 98% respectively. My first year I worked in the Plant prior to being promoted to the position.
Which was a huge accomplishment because my audits were always performed by the Corporate Transportation Safety Manager who was a ex DPS Trooper. 86 Gulf-Quarry Specialist
