The information provided below contains some of your responsibilities as an Unemployment Insurance (UI) claimant. Refer to the Unemployment Insurance Claimant Guide for additional responsibilities and information. Filing your claim for unemployment benefits allows Job Service to make an initial determination of (1) your monetary eligibility (sufficient wages) and (2) if the reason you are no longer working disqualifies you from receiving unemployment benefits. The act of filing a claim for unemployment benefits does not in itself result in payment of benefits. In order to receive benefits, all claimants must:

O Complete weekly certifications by logging on to www.jobsnd.com and clicking on the UI ICE logo or by calling 701-***-****. Failure to certify weekly could result in loss of benefits. If you do not receive either, a confirmation number from the UI ICE System or confirmation via the auto- mated phone system, this means your certification was not accepted and no payment will be made. o A week for unemployment purposes begins on Sunday and runs through the following Saturday. You may certify beginning Sunday for a previous week of unemployment. Your claim will become inactive after 13 days of no activity. If your claim becomes inactive you will need to reopen the claim before being able to certify any additional weeks of unemployment. Backdating of claims is not allowed.

o Important: Continue to certify each week even if your claim is in an undetermined status or you have been disqualified and are filing an appeal.

o The first week that you certify for benefits is called your waiting week. No benefits are paid for this week but you must still complete your certification and meet all other eligibility requirements for the week. Additional Requirements - If you are not returning to your employer and/or were assigned a job search requirement at the time your claim was filed, you must also complete the following eligibility requirements: O Job Contacts

o You are required to complete the specified number of job contacts each week, starting the week you file your claim. Depending on the availability of jobs in your field and location, you may be required to do more. O Resume

o You must register for work with Job Service within 10 days of filing your claim. Registering in North Dakota requires that you post an active resume on www.jobsnd.com. Your resume must include your name, contact information, employment history, and be ac- cessible to employers.

O Posting a Resume

O Go to https://www.ndworkforceconnection.com/vosnet/Default.aspx O If you are a new user, click on the Create Resume link under Job Seekers and under Create a User Account choose the Individual link. You must use your Social Security Number when you register. O If you have worked with Job Service in the past, select the Register / Login link and enter your Username and Password. Contact your nearest Job Service office for assistance with your Username or Password. o Resumes remain active for 90 days and must be reactivated each 90-day period. If you re-open your claim, check your resume to make sure it remains active or a registration issue may be placed on your claim. o If you reside in another state and do not normally commute to North Dakota for work, you are required to register for employment at the nearest public employment office within 10 days of filing your claim and provide proof of your registration to Job Service. You will receive a form in the mail from Job Service that you will need to have completed and returned as proof of your registration. O Reemployment Activities (Internet based on UIICE) – if you are selected o If you are selected to receive reemployment services you will receive a letter in the mail from Job Service North Dakota within 10 days of filing your claim with additional instructions on how to complete your reemployment activities. If you are unable to complete a requirement by the assigned due date you may contact Job Service prior to the due date to provide the reason(s) why you are unable to complete the requirement. Job Service will take the information you provide into consideration when determining if you had good cause for not completing the requirement by the assigned due date. Important: Your complete Unemployment Insurance Claimant Guide (Benefit Rights and Responsibilities) is available online at http://www.jobsnd.com. Select Unemployment for Individuals, then Resources for Individuals. Here you will find the Unemployment Insurance Claimant Guide, "How To" videos and other helpful resources.
