This letter serves as a reference for Ruzanne Graaff placed by the Youth Employment Service (YES) for a period of one year’s work experience.

Ruzanne commenced work at STRYKER SOUTH AFRICA (PTY)LTD on 01 November 2020. STRYKER SOUTH AFRICA (PTY)LTD is in the Other service activities industry and Ruzanne was employed as a Kitroom Intern. The design of the YES programme includes digital interventions that support the provision of a quality work experience and develop a growth mindset among Youth. One of the interventions is the provision of Youth apps via the smartphones which provide Youth with access to work readiness modules and promote soft skills development. These work readiness modules are delivered digitally through an accessible and attractive micro-learning format.

Over the course of the 12- month quality work experience, Ruzanne gained experience in Kitroom Intern and skills in Other service activities and was able to adapt well to our organisational culture. Given that both technical and soft skills are integral to the ability of an employee to contribute to the workplace, Ruzanne has shown that they are willing to use the resources at their disposal for continued, lifelong learning.
