Seeking a professional ‘hands-on’ management role within a for-profit or nonprofit agency as a program developer/instructor responsible for launching and developing successful individual and team improvement programs. I strongly believe in innovative and entrepreneurial thinking and encourage staff and colleagues to build ideas for continuous improvement into best practices. I advocate Total Quality Management and Lean strategies which led me to create Performance Profiling™, a systems thinking process for leading individuals, and groups, to better performance and increased productivity. Currently ‘semi-retired’, I am an instructor for colleges and universities in the kinesiology department, teaching sport ethics and sport management.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Graduate and Undergraduate Departments-Kinesiology- Adjunct Instructor, McDaniel College, Pennsylvania State University – Mont Alto Campus. 2002 – present. Responsible for the design and construction of courses in Athletic Management & Sport Administration. Spearheaded community outreach programs to address community interests in sport civility and cognitive-behavioral based programs in education and sport as well as services for the elderly and senior citizen centers. Health & Physical Educator, Saint John’s Catholic Prep High School. Developed and implemented a high school Health and Physical Education program primarily focused on a student self-designed health and fitness plan, aka. student portfolio. Taught all activity courses as well as Health classes and Anatomy & Physiology. Dr. Thomas Powell reference – Frederick Community College, Frederick, MD.
Executive Director, The Fort Ritchie Community Center. Successful launching of a community center for a BRAC rebuilding program on a former military post. Worked with principal directors to finalize architectural plans, develop internal control procedures, personnel policy, and facility operations. Developed marketing plans and designed strategic business units.
Assistant Professor, Shippensburg University, PA. Primarily assigned to oversee and develop the Coaching Minor and deliver course instruction and assist student-athletes with sport psychology interventions. Directed an outreach based program with students from the university to design physical activities for youth which was recognized by ESPN and received a grant award.
Assistant Professor, Alvernia University, Reading, PA. Implemented the NASSM model for the Sports Management Major and taught and directed sport based, business, and psychology courses within the program. Worked with students on community outreach projects to serve and provide volunteer help to non-profit agencies including social services and neighborhood citizen committees.
As Director of Education for FORE ALL, led the course development of a nation-wide golf clinic program for disabled athletes. Conducted open clinics at several USGA and PGA tournaments to advocate the design for, building of, and provisions for disabled individuals to learn to play golf.
As Executive Director for AALR, American Association for Leisure & Recreation within AAPHERD (now SHAPE), was responsible for strategic goals and outreach operations including the publication of written reports, newsletters, position statements and collaborative agreements with agency partners including the American Hiking Society, Rails to Trails Conservancy, and the federal government program National Family Recreation Day.
As Director for Athletics for Role Models America, Inc. developed the physical education curriculum and recreation and intramurals program. Assisted with implementing a 5-fold comprehensive fund development campaign focused on corporate, congressional, community, fraternal, and private giving.
PROFESSIONAL and COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Currently serve as a community speaker for local Chambers of Commerce, Senior Residential Community Associations, Rotary, Lion’s Club, Boards of Education, minor league baseball programs, on issues related to civility, sport, aging and longevity, and personal coaching.
PERSONAL
Married for 35 years to my wife, Pam, with two children. Hobbies include running, golf and yoga. We enjoy the future prospects of our daughter graduating from U Tenn in School Psychology and son’s academic and athletic interests entering college.
