WORK EXPERIENCE

H-E-B Digital May 2021 – August 2021

Software Engineering Intern San Marcos, TX

Was hired as a Software Engineering Intern, employed with the Coyote squad, which works on the backend Online-Ordering (OLO) system for the perishable divisions in the H-E-B stores.

Assigned project to create a Slack bot for the corporate H-E-B Software Engineer Slack channel.

oPurpose of the bot was to run database queries to add different H-E-B store locations to our OLO-Pilot server (non-production server for devs) for rolling out new updates incrementally.

oProject was created in Java, built on Gradle, and made use of JDBC and Apache libraries.

oThe Slack bot, dubbed Coyote Bot, responded to commands from only qualified users to add a particular store, region of stores, or all stores to the OLO-Pilot database through SQL DML.

oAutomated hundreds of lines of SQL code that was previously needed to be manually executed through MySQL workspace every time a Software Engineer needed to put a store on the OLO-Pilot server.

Gained a lot of experience with Agile programming and database management, specifically SQL and the JDBC library for Java

Texas State University January 2022 – Present

Grader for College of Computer Science (CS4347 - Machine Learning) San Marcos, TX

Employed currently as a grader for CS4347 - Machine Learning at Texas State University, for Dr. Jelena Tesic.

Duties as grader are to go over submitted homework, quizzes, and exams for 35+ students.

oStudents are to submit .ipynb Python Notebook files with their Machine Learning models taught in class, including regression algorithms, kNN, K-Means, Gradient Boosting, and many more.

oGrade students based on correctness of outputs by models based on a standardized data set provided on the class GitHub.

oProvide in-depth feedback to students as to why their model is flawed if their output is incorrect.

Also employed currently as an ITAC (IT Assistance Center) Representative, taking mostly phone calls from Texas State students, faculty, and staff who are having software or hardware issues.

oCall topics range from simple (forgot password, walkup desk hours, etc.), to the more complex (SPSS License activation, bitlocker recovery, laptop reimaging and Windows Activation).

Working in the call center and walk-up desk, filling out tickets and answering emails from distressed users if needed.

Daily use of Cherwell Ticketing system, Bomgar Livechat and Remote Support Client, and many different server profiler programs used during NOC shifts to monitor the status of hosts and major essential servers during late shifts.

Worked many flex roles at the San Marcos Plucker’s Wing Bar, including hosting, bagging, food running, bussing, curbside delivery, and whatever other tasks needed to be done.

Worked as a Barista at Starbucks under high-pressure environments to take orders from customers, whether through the drive-thru or in the café lobby and made the orders as fast as possible and with quality.

Bagger / Parking Lot Attendant Kingwood, TX

Worked as a bagger to help bag customers’ groceries and perform other needed tasks, including helping customers take their groceries to their cars.

As a parking lot attendant, gathered shopping carts, trash, electric carts, and other things that needed to be cleaned and took them out of the parking lot, placing them where they needed to go.

YMCA of Greater Houston May 2015 – November 2017

As a lifeguard, worked year-round at our local YMCA’s indoor pool watching swimmers diligently, cleaning the deck area, and keeping the pool chemicals at the correct pH and Chlorine levels.

As a CS Major, I am typically on my computer a lot and like to get active to compensate for the hours spent sitting. I enjoy playing volleyball at the parks, and when I have time, cycling the San Marcos bike routes and visiting the San Marcos River.
