LEADERSHIP
I currently hold two volunteer positions with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, a Hawaii 501(c)(8) non-profit organization with 5 lodges on Oahu. The Independent Order of Odd Fellows is a global organization with lodges in 27 countries, throughout North and South America, Asia, the Pacific Rim, Africa, and Europe. The District Deputy Sovereign Grand Master, serve as liaison to the national and international bodies, while providing oversight to the five lodges in Hawaii.
My second position with the IOOF is that of Trustee Chairman for one of the Hawaii Lodges, Excelsior Lodge. The primary function as Trustee Chairman is to care for and preserve the Lodge assets (investment portfolio and two real properties). The essential administrative duties include creating an agenda and organizing our bi-monthly meetings with my four Trustees, meet with our financial advisor and investment team once a month to ascertain that our investment portfolio meets our investment guidelines, facilitate repairs and general maintenance of the two properties, and report to the membership monthly as it relates to all Lodge projects. Work in concert with 71 officers from all Lodges to collaborate in their planning and execution of community service projects, Lodge functions, officer training sessions, and any other event that benefits those that are less fortunate than ourselves. This position also requires me to serve as facilities manager for both the Kapahulu and Laie properties, collaborating in the planning and execution of general maintenance, repairs, and capital improvement projects.
