Explanation for the suitability for the post:

‘I am writing to you to express my interest and excitement in the current vacancy of the Chemistry teacher.

We are not born teachers. Teaching is not ‘in the blood’. It is not a genetic predisposition; at least I don’t think it is. But you have to want to work with children; to put in the hours outside of school (the hidden requirements of the job) which I like to do. I have read in the project titled “Teaching and Learning for Quality Australian Schools: A Review and Synthesis of Research-based Knowledge” Zammit et al (2007) that quality teaching could be considered as being influenced by three domains: contextual factors, professional practice and attributes and qualities of teachers. In the domain of attributes and qualities of teachers, we categorized these as personal, relational and professional. In the personal area, the qualities were: enthusiasm, passion and commitment; high levels of communication and motivation to enter teaching. However, these were identified as not the only attributes that contributed to student outcomes and quality teaching. As I have been teaching since last ten years I have found myself a successful teacher. So many of my students are now in MBBS and IITs and M.Sc. student are getting good positions in NET and GATE exams. Here I would like to state that I am very suitable for this post because, I am passionate for teaching chemistry.

I see this post as an exciting and challenging opportunity to develop and share my teaching skills. I am a versatile, enthusiastic and hardworking individual, who is fully committed to raising the standard in Chemistry Education through the motivation of pupils and delivery of an enriching curriculum. I am passionate about teaching this subject because tangible success is possible for every student. Being part of such a thriving, motivated and dedicated team would be a fantastic opportunity.
