Recruited to develop a training system was a huge challenge for me. First of all I looked at the company vision and mission statements and drafted a training strategy. From this I then developed an action plan based on the vision and mission. I worked with Senior management to prioritize the tasks before I developed and implemented them; voice animated induction programs, all sectional safe operating procedures, progression path for employees, create training information system, training request forms, assessment methods & tools and Equipment training materials.

Key Results:

Keep following training updated according to regulations: Scoop (Elphinstone), Scaler (impact driller), Dump truck, Forklift (3&4 wheel), Cabin Controlled Overhead Crane, Pendant Controlled Overhead crane, Front-end loaders, All Terrain Vehicle, Tractors, Bobcat, Mobile Cranes (Lima, Grove and Liebherr), Truck mounted cranes.

Created 4 of 6 voice animated induction programs for orientation purposes. This is used for new employees and visitors.

Created Standard operating procedures for all six sections. This is used to train new employees and conduct PTO’s.

A large number of employees are illiterate and I created suitable assessment tools to accommodate them as well as for literate ones.

Coach and provide on the job training to employees on training. Monitor progress and recommend Paterson grade increase if found competent and/or should a vacancy exists.

Coach and train two NOVICE Training Instructors.

Conduct Needs Analysis and schedule training accordingly.

Promote a learning culture by introducing learners to the benefits of the Cat progressions system, monitoring of training and manage assessments. I ensured that the training materials in place are up to date and assessment tools are updated. I was tasked to draft operating procedures for three sections with 4-5 sub sections each. The sections I was responsible for was Solvent Extraction Electrowinning and Casthouse.

Provided sectional safety section specific induction to all new employees
