Arrives at main bus lot or assigned work area ready and able to drive specified bus route as assigned by dispatch, based on the pre-set time schedule for bus route.
Ensures all necessary paperwork such as schedule and route information has been retrieved from dispatch.
Performs bus inspection: Exterior, looks for oil and other leaks under the bus, checks for body damage, determines if the bus is leaning, checks tires and wheels, splash guards, all windows, front door glass, mirrors, headlights, windshield glass; wipers, clearance lights, reflectors, turn signals, brake lights, license plate clean/readable, bike rack is secure. Checks back engine compartment. It takes between 20 to 40lbs of pressure to lift the back engine compartment door (swings up); however, closes (down) easily
Performs bus inspection for interior and exterior including the following:
-checks for leaks under the bus
-damage to the body of the bus
-checks tires, wheels and splash guard
-all windows and front door glass and mirrors
-checks and ensures headlights are intact and properly working (clearance lights, reflectors, turn signals, brake lights)
-checks windshield wipers and fluid
-ensures license plate is clean/readable
-ensures bike rack is intact and secure.
Assists dependent passengers, IE passengers in wheelchairs need assistance getting on the bus with the wheelchair lift as well as assistance with wheelchair restraints, as needed, once on the bus.
Use of public address system to inform passengers of schedule information and/or rules etc.
Returns bus to bus yard and turns over all pertinent information to the next driver (if route is still ongoing). Performs pre-departure inspection; picks up paper debris from floor/seats and takes any left items to appropriate location in facility.
Returns bus to bus yard at the end of shift, relaying all pertinent information to next driver, when applicable.
Completes end of day/route inspection picking up trash and debris from floors, seats etc.

Assist the bus driver in maintaining safe conduct on the bus, for adults with disabilities.
Assisted adults with physical disabilities to safely get on and off the bus.
