About Me: "Elevating Others Through Leadership"

I have recently relocated to the Folsom, CA area and wish to find employment in management, training and/or event production. I have an extensive background in theatre and I'm fully trained in all aspects of event production and design (lighting, sound, costume, set, etc.). As an educator with 13 years of experiences, I am adept at creating instructional materials (online & in-person), training modules and data-driven assessment. I look forward to bringing my unique and diverse background to the right industry in the greater Sacramento area.

Transferable Skills for Careers in Training, Event Management and Production:

• Producing, Planning and Publicizing events for the general public

• Theater Management: booking, securing contracts, ensuring equipment set-up / take-down (Load In / Out)

• Staffing the theater for community events

• Creating a theatre "company" brand, logo, brochure, promo videos and website.

• Motivating others to engage with attention, focus, and enthusiasm

• Developing instructional materials & adapting said materials to the needs of diverse learners.

• Facilitating large and small group training

• Building strong rapport with a wide range of stakeholders: students, administration, parents, business owners, non-profit and community organizers

• Negotiating conflict resolution with rationality, patience and fairness Experience

I desire to bring my thirteen years of teaching experience to a company that values creativity and innovation. Over the years I have refined my skill sets as a manager, producer and educator through directing broadway musicals and other theatrical productions, organizing community support through founding a non-profit, marketing events through print and digital media, training both educators and students in cooperative learning strategies, designing curriculum for live and online learning experiences, advising on technology needs and enhancements for education and theatre, etc. All of my experiences have taught me a simple, yet profound, truth; having a "playful” mindset is key to unlocking one’s creative potential.

Philosophy

“The opposite of play isn’t work; it’s depression,” observes Dr. Stuart Brown, play researcher and psychiatrist. Brown’s research reveals that playfulness is a combination of curiosity, exploration and imagination, evoking a mind state where we have greater access to our creative capacities. The applications of this research are far-reaching. Companies like Google are thriving due to their willingness to embrace play-based strategies. Laszlo Bock, Google's HR boss, explains in his book,

"Work Rules!" that the key to a successful workplace is constantly innovating, experimenting, and keeping things fun.

"What's beautiful about [a playful] approach is that a great environment is a self-reinforcing one: All of these efforts support one another, and together create an organization that is creative, fun, hardworking, and highly productive.” -Bock

Where "play" is the medium for developing purpose, learning and working environments are indistinguishable. I love to learn, and want to continue my professional and personal growth in an environment where I can thrive creatively and elevate others. Willing to relocate to: San Francisco, CA - Portland, OR - Sacramento, CA Authorized to work in the US for any employer

Work Experience

Educator of English & Theatre

Union Mine High School - El Dorado, CA

2013 to Present

During my tenure at Union Mine H.S., I oversaw the establishment of Link Crew, a leadership and anti- bullying program. Link Crew Co-ordinator certification requires one to conduct a 2-hour, hands-on training and orientation with an audience of over 400. Additionally, I formed a 501c3 non-profit parent booster organization to support theater operations. I was also selected by UC Davis to receive advanced training in play-based teaching strategies from Shakespeare's Globe Education Academy in London. I now wish to work in the private sector with creative and caring people who have a strong desire to use their time, talent and passion for the betterment of their community and the world. Educator of English & Theatre

El Diamante High School - Visalia, CA

August 2008 to July 2013

My teaching career began in my hometown of Visalia. I produced an average 3 theatrical productions a year, including film festivals, Broadway plays and musicals, improv nights and more. I was honored by my administration to be part of their anti-bullying initiative and receive OLWEUS training (an international anti-bullying program). I gained invaluable experience during my tenure at Visalia Unified, and made the decision to leave for a better career opportunity, higher compensation and greater creative control at a teaching post in El Dorado County.

Restaurant Manager

Applebee's - Visalia, CA

January 2006 to July 2008

Restaurant management taught me invaluable lessons about how to communicate clearly and effectively in fast-paced environments. I gained experience recruiting, hiring and training new employees. As a trainer, I inducted new employees to the core values of our restaurant's brand and gave direct instruction for the tasks required of every position. I emerged from my tenure as a restaurant manager with a passion for education that eventually led me to choose teaching as my vocation.
