Commercial Excellence Manager & Vessel Agency Operator

Responsible for all aspects the vessel port of call in Corpus Christi and Brownsville to include all required documentation, all formal arrangements with CBP & USCG, liner release authorizations, financial/operational reporting and all vessel crew needs/arrangements. (tankers/bulk liquid/dry/b-bulk & project cargoes)

Senior management planned to open a local office in the region, growing market share and hiring on additional staff in the Corpus office which I would then manage. However – due to covid, those plans were profoundly impacted and ultimately cancelled.

Gulf Stream Marine - Corpus Christi, TX May 2017 – Feb 2019

General Manager

Lead a team of 135 x employees responsible for all aspects of operations/P&L/customer service/safety, etc at several non-union facilities throughout the South Texas coast (from Victoria to Corpus Christi).

B-blk, steel & project cargoes comprise primary commodities to include wind components for all OEM’s (blades/nacelles/hubs/drive trains/towers/etc). All types of pipe (loose/bundled/coated/bare/etc) as well as bulk commodities (pig iron/sand/fines) and several project cargoes (HVY lifts/large project modules/etc).

Responsible for fleet of equipment consisting of 5 x shore cranes, 4 x reach stackers, 8 x 36k forklifts, 12 x 11k forklifts, 8 x yard hustler trucks, 7 x fleet pickups and several specialized cargo trailers as well as multiple pcs of HVY lift terminal handling equipment.

Annual revenue of over $20M; 10+ ships calling per month through six separate facilities - scheduling gang orders IAW customer demands, repositioning gear, equipment, machinery, etc as required for specific facilities and commodities.

Conducted stevedoring operations at several terminal facilities for customers such as Kiewit Off-Shore (KOS) / Oxy, Gulf Marine Fabricators, Gulf Copper Harbor Island, Point Comfort (Formosa).

Successfully managed several major projects consisting of over 350K MT of steel pipe (Boursan/AIMCO) and several wind projects for all major OEM’s (GE/Siemens Gamesa/Gold Wind/Acciona/Suzlon/Vestas).

Federal Marine Terminals, Inc. - Mobile, AL Nov 2014 – May 2017

General Manager

Lead a team of 68 x employees at a non-union facility to include an Operations Manager, Safety Manager, 5 x Superintendents and an Office Administrator.

1,200ft berth w/3 x STS 55MT cranes handling B-blk cargoes and 1 x 40MT E-crane for bulk commodities. 2 x 55MT RTG cranes for rail operations.

Responsible for day-to-day stevedoring operations (vsl, terminal and rail) and revenues of over $7M, scheduling gang orders IAW customer demands, P&L.

Supervised the handling of over 5.3M MT of cargoes to include steel slabs, scrap steel, and bulk commodities / Exporting carbon & stainless steel coils via both marine and rail operations. Implemented terminal rail cargo operations utilizing two RTG cranes.

Increased annual contribution by 7.7% in 2015 and 15.4% in 2016.

Established M&R program to maintain company vehicles and equipment in a more efficient manner with routine maintenance, extending the serviceable life of machinery and lowering our cost per-hour maintenance.

Maintained safe and productive work environment with zero recordable injuries for two years consecutively.

CMA CGM (America) LLC - Houston, TX Apr 2006 – Nov 2014

Port Captain / Marine Operations Manager

Responsible for management of five ocean liner container ships calling USWC ports to include LA/Long Beach, Oakland, Seattle and Vancouver.

Duties include labor orders, determination of gang structure required to maintain vessel schedule, operations reporting and invoice approvals.

Manage Marine and Terminal operations annual budget of $125 million – responsible for all operational expenses and associated reporting.

Employee of the Month (July 2011) – saving CMA CGM over $350K annually in operational efficiencies in tug boat utilization in USWC ports.

Responsible for issuing Notice of Intent for operational claims (damages to ships, containers, etc), tracking the costs of repairs on the same and issuing an invoice back to the liable party - tracking and tracing all associated costs which take months to compile, report and rebill.

Managed over 100 x B-blk and project shipments on the USWC in ports: LA/Long Beach, Oakland, Seattle and Vancouver.

Coordinated and conducted port, terminal, and vessel tours for several major VIP customers (Wal-Mart/Target/Sony).
