Responsibilities:

1)Focus of this position is the coordination and compilation of the yearly financial external audit and the appropriate tax and reporting requirements. Review of audited statements to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).

2)The review of internal controls for all Tribal departments including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Intra-Tribal, Payroll, and General Ledger. Including Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) development and enhancement.

3)Oversight and training of one Assistant Controller and four Accounting Managers within accounting, financial software, and proper management skills.

4)Daily review of cash and investment balances and determination of anticipated cash flow needs.

5)Review of financial software security pertaining to individual access as well as ensuring external access is restricted.

6)Review and compile financial information into a monthly Treasurer’s report to include Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

I continue to develop a sense of ownership to all the work I am responsible for. I am a hardworking, quick learning individual with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of personalities. I worked fulltime while attending school fulltime in order to achieve a degree in Accounting. I have become quite proficient with the AS 400 financial software system as well as Microsoft and Corel Office Suites (Word, Excel, Quattro Pro and Word Perfect). I always try to focus on the positive, no matter what the situation. I encourage everyone I work with to bring their best efforts forward, learn from our mistakes, and always accept responsibility for our actions. I also strive to learn something new everyday.

I volunteered as a personal caregiver for my wife’s mother since March 2020.
