Experience

Tax Preparer & Accounting work Jan. 2018 to Present

Oscar Michael Gerth C.P.A. Columbus, IN

From January to mid-April prepared two hundred seventeen tax returns. My goal was to reach 200. This was an extremely challenging time. The tax returns I prepared at H&R Block and Royalty were significantly easier than preparing tax returns for a C.P.A. In May we prepared property tax returns. I have also worked on payroll, payroll taxes both monthly and quarterly, prepared financial statements, done bank reconciliations, and have been assigned the job of doing the billing for the firm.

Hearing Aid Consultant Aug 2015 to Aug 2017

Miracle Ear New Albany, IN

In May 2015 I was offered a job with Miracle Ear selling hearing aids. I Started an

apprenticeship Aug. 2015. This basically included being handed a huge book and being

told to study for the state exam. I had to learn the anatomy of the outer, middle and

inner ear, acoustics, every little part of how every style of hearing aids work, how to

examine ear and do ear impressions, different hearing losses and what causes them, how

to work an audiometer and perform hearing exams, tympanograms, how to program and

fit hearing aids along with the sales process. In Nov. 2015 I took the state written exam

which included 125 questions and passed the first time. Out of 6 practitioners that

worked for my boss I was the only one that passed on my first try. Shortly after I passed

a 7 part practical exam and was licensed and running my own store. By August 2015 I had

also taken the exam for KY and passed. I was the only consultant licensed in two states

and it took me just one year to accomplish this. I broke my leg in October 2017 and have

not returned to work. As of October I had a close rate of 55% and had sold over $500,000 in hearing aids in 2017.

Co-Owner Mar 2000 to Aug 2015

Hoosier St. Grill North Vernon, IN

Owned and operated this restaurant for 14 years. Responsible for all daily operations which included all accounting work and taxes. Brought the business from a dying mom & pop to a

prosperous hot spot. My husband and I still own the business. In 2015 we began renting it out because in July of 2015 we were offered jobs with Miracle Ear. I was regularly

complimented for my people skills and work ethic. The only time I missed work in the 14

years we ran the business was when my daughter was born in 2002. I did miss one week

of work for that.

Tax preparer Jan 1994 to Jan 2000

H&R Block North Vernon, In

Prepared taxes as a second job during the time I worked at SEI data. Quit due to buying

the restaurant and being too busy. I resumed working for H&R Block preparing taxes

from 2007-2009. I also did taxes for the 2014 and 2015 tax season for Donita Layman at

Royalty in North Vernon, In.

Bachelor Degree, Business 1992

1988-1992-Graduate from IU Bloomington school of business.

2015. HIS licensed hearing aid dispenser. Licensed in IN & KY

I have done a lot of volunteer work in my community. I have been on the United Way

Board, the Good Samaritan Food pantry board and worked closely with the Joy of Giving

in getting the backpack program started in Jennings County. I also would frequently

hand out food to struggling families during the years my husband and I ran Hoosier St.

Grill. I have also done quite a bit of volunteer work at Wayside Inn and have donated

food to them along with being very active in my church.
