• Selected to sit and offer feedback on the BEE-Mindful Council. With this also educate ED staff on the cart and its resources for the special needs community as well as very anxious children and those who can not communicate normally (this is done with the PEC system)

One example of what I do with being on the BEE-Mindful Council There have been several times a special need person would come into the ED from a group home or with their families. There was this one little boy who I heard screaming and went to the room to introduce myself and explain about the BEE-Mindful cart and asked mom if she thought anything would help her child. She was almost in tears because she has never been to a hospital that takes the time to help ease the anxiety of both her and her child. We did use the weighted blanket and the pillow that when hugged vibrates and grounds the child. With this the team was able to successfully but a line in this child without other restraints. This is only one of the samples to provide a glimpse into the power of transforming a patient experience for the better.
