Re: Letter of Recommendation

To Whom It May Concern:

It is with great pleasure to have the opportunity to recommend Mr. Charles Whatley for hire within your school district. Mr. Whatley successfully completed several observation, planning, and teaching hours during the Fall of 2017 semester within my classroom in the area of English language arts (7th grade) at Clay-Chalkville Middle School, which is in the Jefferson County School System.

Mr. Whatley displayed many skills that will contribute to him becoming a great educator. He did an amazing job with building teacher/student relationships, and establishing a positive rapport with the students. He was genuinely concerned about the students' overall well-being as well as their academic attainment. He was also professional at all times. He received many compliments from our school's faculty members as it related to professionalism.

Mr. Whatley was organized, prompt, and most all, flexible. The ability to adapt or adjust to different situations is essential to the success of an educator. Mr. Whatley welcomed challenges and handled them successfully. He was always on time, and communicated with me if there were any issues. He met all deadlines and was receptive to corrective feedback and suggestions.

Mr. Whatley is a gem and will be an asset to your school district. Again, I recommend that he be considered for hire and given the opportunity to show you how his style of teaching impacts the lives of students from all walks of life.

If you should have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at 205-***-**** or via email at adq1sh@r.postjobfree.com.

Sincerely,

CcX

To Whom it May Concern:

I'm writing this letter on behalf of Mr. Alex Whatley, an individual I've taught and advised for over two years while at Troy University in Montgomery. Alex is seeking admission to the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB) School of Education in the Alternative Master's Program (AMP). I am convinced that Alex would excel at UAB.

As a student of mine, Alex was a hardworking, extremely diligent student who distinguished himself scholastically. He demonstrated excellent abilities in my classes, with timely, high caliber submissions. Further, he accomplished several research reports and presented findings to fellow classmates in formal settings. Courteous, respectful, and serious about success well describe him.

The program Alex completed at Troy is a Masters of Science in Adult Education. This degree equips individuals with an understanding of the adult learner, curriculum development, the foundations of adult education, and research methods. Alex learned a tremendous amount, and was very successful, maintaining a 3.8 GPA. His academic accomplishments should well prepare him for further studies at UAB as they indicate his ability to tackle the rigors of graduate level work.

Finally, Alex's demeanor is exceptional which I feel is a fundamental quality required of anyone seeking higher level academic achievement. You'll enjoy working with Alex as I am sure he'll enjoy congenial relationships with fellow students and instructors. In short, Alex has the academic qualifications and disposition to complete the AMP degree at (JAB.

To Whom It May Concern,

It is with great pleasure that I, Jessica Relph, recommend Charles Whatley for the English instructor position at your school. For several years, I have taught various grade levels of English Language Arts at the Woodlawn High School in Birmingham, Alabama. Recently I had the pleasure to service as Mr. Whatley’s cooperating teacher during his student teaching. Mr. Whatley showed great diligence while doing his student teacher by designing rigorous lesson and assessments with timely feedback that aided student academic growth. The major aspect of teaching that Mr. Whatley worked on, and greatly improved upon, was classroom management. The greatest lesson that Mr. Whatley learned was that, it is not enough to know the content but it is essential that you build relationships with the students. Teachers must prove to their students that they care about them. I observed that Mr. Whatley learned that through gaining knowledge about his students, and through proving to them that he cared about them, that he was able to motivate students to be engaged in learning in the classroom. Through learning about his students, Mr. Whatley was able to ultimately maintain a higher level of classroom management. Mr. Whatley has a great desire to for student achievement therefore I believe he was will be a great asset to your instructional team.

Best Wishes,

Jessica Relph

Brenda G. Dial, Instructor with Curriculum and Instruction University of Alabama: Red Mountain Writing Project: GEAR UP Birmingham Birmingham, Alabama 35294

To: Whom It May Concern From: Mrs. Brenda G. Dial, University of Alabama at Birmingham: Curriculum and Instruction Re: Charles Whitely It is with great pleasure that, I write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Mr. Charles Whately in the position of English Language Arts teacher. I have supervised Charles for two years with the Red Mountain Writing Project: GEAR UP Birmingham Literacy Centers. He worked specifically with high school ninth graders in the Birmingham City School district as both a reading teacher and mentor for both gifted and high risk students. Charles has a natural ability to engage students both academically and emotionally. His skill set as an academic teacher was quite evident at the start of his tenure with the program. Initially, as part of his university commitment, he was required to perform a specific number of hours as a volunteer. After, completing the required number of hours for his course work, he was immediately recommended to participate in the paid program, because of his unique ability to engage, relate and teach many of the students. What really stood out to both his college professors and myself was the fact that Charles understood that not only did he need to have a solid understanding of the English-Language content; it is extremely important to build a student- teacher relationship with those, whom he teaches. This skill made it extremely easy for him to engage those students, who were extremely advanced academically and have the ability to do the same for those students, who struggled both academically and socially. Finally, as a previous school administrator, I found that Charles was the type of teacher, who I would readily hire as an instructor. He not only brings to the table a solid understanding of teaching and learning, but his ability to offer coaching opportunities to students include: debate, mentoring and soccer. These qualities qualify Charles Whately to be a well-rounded teacher.

In closing, I highly recommend Mr. Charles Whately for the position of English Language Arts teacher.

Sincerely, Mrs. Brenda G. Dial, Instructor with Curriculum and Instruction with the University of Alabama.
