I am a first-year student at the University of Chicago pursuing Business Economics and Data Science, and I am writing for Accounting Internship. I believe that I have various traits to contribute to your company based on my past experiences.
I have vast experience in managing and leading projects, which involve innovation, intuition, and collaboration. I have established the project “Self-eSTEAM” in competing in Community Problem Solving (CmPS). As a co-founder and president of a CmPS team STEAM Sisters, I took the initiative to further my passion: breaking through the glass ceiling that women face in male-dominated industries. My teammates and I hosted weekly classes for young girls of age 8-12 to explore their interests in what’s known as STEM fields. As the president, I led our team’s weekly meetings and logistics. I contacted guest speakers and local organizations for partnership, mainly for our fundraiser in which I brought our team a revenue of approximately $2,000. This project lasted 2 years, and I know where consistency and persistence can take me. In working with 10 other teammates, I’ve also practiced how to work in group settings and solve disputes for optimal results. I am an experienced leader who understands the significance of intuition, liability, and ambition. Throughout my high school career, I’ve been on the board of many organizations including BuildOn, Troy Colts Marching Band, and St. Patrick’s of Metro Detroit Soup Kitchen. I understand what it takes to be a leader and how intuition in facing unexpected challenges can induce persistence. I believe such a trait can contribute to your company. On-campus, I am a part of the UChicago Women in Busines, specifically its finance industry group. Attending workshops nurture my passion to obtain new skills in which I consider myself to be not only an ambitious but also a fast learner.
