Leadership
As a Veteran of the United States Army (74D; Honorably Discharged), I developed skills that I utilize in my everyday life. My military experience has helped me to gain affective qualities towards accomplishing my personal goals, while developing a sense for duty, leadership, and integrity. Nuclear, Biological, Chemical (74d) U.S ARMY 09/29/2000-03/30/2004 While in the Army, I was assigned to a chemical brigade that worked on wartime readiness for nuclear, biological, and chemical warfare- both foreign and domestic. I learned about strategies of enemy engagement during all phases of chemical warfare.
S.M. Lawrence/ Safety Coordinator/ 06/2021-present As a safety coordinator, I am in charge of managing the safety responsibilities of plumbers, heavy equipment operators, and HVAC persons on a day-to-day basis. I educate workers on best workplace practices as defined by company standards and OSHA. I assist workers with JSA preparation and hazard recognition. I provide weekly toolbox topics with the plumbing and hvac superintendents, while identifying leading indicators of unsafe workplace practices. I manage and organize our scopes of work into folders that we archive, while also sending copies of the information to the site contractors overseeing the project.
Site Safety Technician/ Gray Construction/ 03/2021-06/2021 At Gray Construction, as a part of a general contractor site team, I helped with managing subcontractors in the closeout phase of an Amazon Fulfillment Center in Little Rock, AR. I participated in the walk-down of job scopes with each subcontractor, while ensuring they were in compliance with OSHA’s best practices and regulations for construction. I trained workers on the safe use of fall protection, L.O.T.O, hazard recognition, and mitigation methods of those hazards. I was assigned to the daily task of providing morning safety meetings; orientations with new hires on site. Conveyor Installer (Conveyor Millwright)/ Honeywell Intelligrated/ 06/2020-03/2021 As a conveyor millwright, I assisted with loading and transporting various structural components by way of forklift. In my everyday job function, I bolt up, fabricate, and use various tools to build conveyor systems or structural members related to the foundation of the conveyor. I was certified with Fletchline INC to use MEWPs and forklifts.
Safety Inspector S&B Engineers and Constructors 08/2016- 03/2020 While working as a safety inspector with S&B, I managed the safety culture that is built into the job task of construction. My daily task consisted of rendering toolbox meetings that were designed to raise the consciousness of each worker on safety related topics. Another job function was ensuring that atmospheric conditions were safe for occupants during confined space operations. Knowledge of OSHA, Phillip 66 and S&B standards were the rubric in which we enforced our policies and procedures.
Iron Worker (Bay Ltd, CB&I, PCL Construction, K.B.R, S&B, P2s) 06/200*-**-**** As an ironworker with these companies, my job duties consisted of bolting up, connecting, fabricating, and impacting iron members in an oil refinery or power plant setting. Boilermaker Turner Industries, PCL Construction 03/2011- 05/2018 As a boilermaker with these companies, I used coordinates to bolt up flange to flange makeup in a refinery setting. I received and understood the process for receiving permits for confined space entry and l.o.t.o. operations. While working on a crew of 3 to 4 personnel, we generally performed hydrostatic pressure checks on piping systems; installed gaskets and blinds during routine maintenance; bolted up exchangers on final makeups, and flagged cranes while hoisting equipment.
