Director of Nursing
Responsible for running the Nursing Department for a 242 bed long term care facility in Central New York. This facility has had tremendous challenges with regards to its regulatory compliance. The biggest accomplishment of my tenure thus far was the result of their annual NYS Department of Health Survey. In May of 2009, the facility received 49 deficiencies with over half of them being at a harm level. Twenty of those deficiencies were in the Nursing Department. The 2010 annual NYS Department of Health Survey garnered this facility 17 deficiencies 10 of those in the Nursing Department. This was achieved through leadership and building of operational efficiencies. Under my leadership in collaboration with my team of nurses, the facility showed continued progress towards improved quality of care. I was hired to guide and change the existing culture to provide quality care to the patients and residents. The facility has a 58 bed sub acute rehab unit and a 46 bed dementia unit. Other areas of accountability include Quality Assurance Program, MDS/PRI. I report directly to the Administrator. Overall, I manage a staff of 160 professional and para- professional staff.
