Polishing Disc (Manufacturing Lab)

Guide: Dr. Samir Chandra Roy, Assistant Professor, IIT Ropar

• Designed and manufactured a complete product used for intricate polishing of metal to acquire a dog bone shape. Designed the product in Solid Works and exported the data on CNC Lathe with hands-on training experience. Successfully presented the work.

Mechanical Spider (Klann,s Mechanism)

Guide: Dr. Sujata Pal, Assistant Professor, IIT Ropar

• Simulated and visualized the dynamics of the product in Solid Works. Minimized errors and learned design concepts to alter the parameters. Assembled the final product along with the teamwork of five members. Magnetic Field Sensor (Physics Lab)

Guide: Dr. Sandeep Gautam, Assistant Professor, IIT Ropar

• Created a device to sense a magnetic field in a range of 1 meter. Learn Arduino coding and electrical connections. Finite Element Method (Machine Design)

Guide: Dr. Chandra Shekhar Sharma, Assistant Professor, IIT Ropar

• Simulated and visualized stress concentrations in a steel plate in ABAQUS software. Learned the FEA concepts of meshing, application of load, and extracting realistic results from the model. Friction Welding (BTP)

Guide: Dr. Chandrakant Kumar Nirala, Assistant Professor, IIT Ropar

• The idea to apply to this project is to use induction and external heating on friction welding.

• We started doing simulation in COMSOL, define all the parameters, and did the simulation for different materials.

• After multiple attempts, we resolve the error but the result of the final simulation was not as expected.

• We continued our project to find the temperature profile of friction stir welding along with, finding the temperature of nine specified points with different values of welding speed.

• All of the simulations are done on the COMSOL Multiphysics and ANSYS workbench. SKILLSET

• Software Skills: C++, Python, Anaconda, Solid Works, COMSOL, Ansys, MATLAB, Abaqus, MS Office, Windows, Ubuntu.
