I have over thirty years of sheet metal experience on military helicopters, fighter jets, corporate jets, commercial aircraft, and private airplanes. Most of my experience is performing structural repairs, unscheduled, line maintenance, and modifications on commercial, commuter jets, and military helicopters.

SHEET METAL MECHANIC

TACTICAL AIR SUPPORT, INC, JACKSONVILLE, FL. 04/21 – 06/21

Performed repairs on F-5 aircraft. Fabricated doublers, patched cracks, installed glass cockpit upgrade, installed new instrument panel brackets and avionic shelves to accommodate avionics mods. Performed corrosion control, repaired cracks, installed and aligned cockpit canopies.

SHEET METAL MECHANIC

TEXTRON, WICHITA, KS. 10/19- 04/2021

Assembled vertical stabilizer using fixture for the Sky Courier. Installed doublers, tripplers, and various brackets to accommodate for cable pulleys and control tubes for aircraft interior. Assembled nose extension assembly for the Air Force King Air 350 nose extension modification. Installed tail strakes for the King Air 350.

LAY-UP MECHANIC

MEGGIT, ERLANGER, KY. 03/19-09/19

Fabricated Boeing 777X diffuser duct. Worked with 9309.3 adhesive, fiberglass, carbon fiber, and fabricating diffuser duct. Trimmed fiberglass parts using fixtures and assembled using structural adhesives.

Installed and located panels on global 7500 and 8000 aircraft. Spliced wings together installed frames and ribs using solid rivets and hi-loc fasteners.

Fabricated Boeing 787 air conditioning ducts using carbon fiber. Performed wet lay up in molds, vacuum bagged molds, and prepared molds for autoclave.

Performed C&D checks and various modifications on CRJ-200 and Q-400 aircraft. Repaired and replaced frames, performed scab patch repairs, install doublers and antennas, installed new rear spar landing gear fittings, complied with windshield drain mod, and performed various other non-scheduled repairs. Treated primed and painted newly fabricated parts. Repaired fiberglass parts. Repaired fiberglass and Kevlar fairings, replaced canoe fairing seals, replaced door lift and latch bearings, and supervised new airframe mechanics.

Performed blue force tracker mods on Army UH-60 Helicopters, Supervised team, wrote daily status reports, scheduled aircraft maintenance, disassembled aircraft to gain access to accomplish mod (i.e., install doublers, brackets, and run wire harness).

Performed C&D checks on CRJ-200 aircraft. Performed the rear wing bulkhead mod (Sta. 559), and various other repairs, frame splices, and scab patch repairs.

STANDARD AERO SPRINGFIELD, IL 05/10 – 08/10

Performed C&D check maintenance on various Falcon, Gulfstream, Citation, Learjet, and Global Express Aircraft. Performed repairs on doors, intakes, floor webs, and wings. Alodined, primed and painted parts using a Pre-Val spot painting kit.

SIERRA NEVADA HAGERSTOWN, MD 01/09 – 04/10

Performed mods on U.S. Army King Air 300, DEA King Air 350, and a U.S, Army DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft. Installed brackets and doublers for the use of the newly installed FLIR systems per engineering drawings and blue prints. Also installed Chaffe dispensers and heavy structural L-angels to accommodate a ground penetrating radar on the Twin Otter. I spend approx.…eight months on a road team installing blue force tracker systems on U.S. Army aircraft including the UH-60 L/M, AH-64 A/D, CH-47 D, OH-58 A/C, UH-1 H, and Army Sherpa’s.

AVMATS, MASCOUTAH, IL 10/08 – 01/09

Performed complete restoration on Navy T-39 Saber liners, drilled off webs and stiffeners, fabricated new parts and installed them. Replaced seals, windscreens, and wind bolts. Repaired wings, intake cowlings, floor webs, fuselage skins.

RAYTHEON AEROSPACE, EGYPT 05/08 – 09/08

Performed line and unscheduled maintenance on six U.S. Army UH-60 helicopters. Repaired floor webs, and skin repairs. Helped with the removal and installation of the main rotor blades, engine flushes, and reconfiguring of the cabin including taking out the troop seats and installing medevac litters.

AAR, INDIANAPOLIS, IL 01/08 – 04/08

Performed the installation of the winglet mon on Southwest Airlines B-737 300, upsized existing high lock holes using a reamer and drill bushing, re-countersunk upsized holes. Installed twelve to fifteen-foot-long stainless-steel J-stringers using high locks with very little access. Trimmed and located holes for new cast aluminum parts, and installed I.A.W. engineering drawings and blue prints.

RAYTHEON AEROSPACE, AFGHA/IRAQ 10/02 – 07/07

Performed overhaul and line maintenance on various U.S. Army and Marine Corp. helicopters including AH-64A/D, UH-60L/M, UH-1N, AH-1W, CH-47D, and CH-53. Repaired cracks and bullet hole in skin, stringers, and brackets. Most new parts were fabricated on sight. Repaired Kevlar panels and composite rotor blades.

Performed mods on Army helicopters while traveling on a road team. Aircraft I worked on include, UH-60L/M, CH-47D, AH-64A/D, and OH-58A/C. Installed doublers for antennas, radius blocks for rivets and nutplates, access panels and avionics shelves per engineering drawings. Located holes and laid out new holes with specific rivet pitch and edge distance I.A.W. blueprints.

Refueled aircraft, parked commuter airlines, operated GPU, loaded and unloaded passenger bags, cleaned the interior of corporate and commuter aircraft, and de-iced aircraft.

STRUCTURES MECHANIC

KENMORE AIR, KENMORE, WASHINGTON 11/99 – 01/00

Re-Skinned DH-2 Beaver wings and EDO floats. Drilled off old skins, cut and trimmed new skins from the old ones, drilled holes and installed using solid rivets, and hi-locks.

STRUCTURES MECHANIC

MDTSC, HOT SPRINGS, AR 06/99 – 10/99

Re-Skinned DC-9 wings. Drilled off old wing skins, bonded them with a milled doubler, and countersunk new holes, and installed using solid rivets. Repaired flaps and ailerons.

BF GOODRICH AEROSPACE EVERETT, WASHINGTON 06/98 – 06/99

Performed back shop maintenance on B-737, B-727, B-757, and B-767 aircraft. Accomplished the 727 Hush kit mod to the #1 and #3 engine cowlings, repaired passenger doors, flaps, and ailerons. Patched cracks, laid out rivet patterns, located old rivets holes and drilled new ones to accomplish the repairs. Treated, primed, and painted fabricated parts. Blended and measured corrosion depth and dimensions for submittal to engineering. Performed repairs and replacement per engineering drawings. Repaired cracks on crew and passenger doors, flaps, slats and ailerons.

STRUCTURES MECHANIC

NORTHRUP GRUMMAN, LAKE CHARLES, LA 03/98 – 05/98

Replaced wing skins on B-707 aircraft. Drilled off high lock fasteners, scrapped sealant from inside of the fuel tanks, and performed repairs on the slats and flaps.

MCDONNELL DOUGLAS, ST. LOUIS, MO. 04/97 – 03/98

Worked on the production line of the F-15E Eagle. Trimmed and installed wing panels. Laid out holes for nut plates and rivets using minimum edge distance and rivet pitch per blue prints.

AIRCRAFT REFUELER

AEROFLITE, MARION, IL. 03/96 -04/97

Refueled and towed aircraft in and out of hangars. Washed the exterior and detailed the interior of all rental aircraft.

AIRCRAFT MECHANIC/ HELPER

NOGLE & BLACK AVIATION, TUSCOLA, IL. 03/94 – 08/94

Restored Beechcraft T-34 A/B Mentors. Serviced the brakes and landing gear, replaced engines with larger STCed 300HP model. Performed structural mod for the bigger engines that included new motor mounts, stronger lower frame and webs, and performed engine runs.

AIRCRAFT STRUCTURAL REPAIRER

U.S. ARMY 08/87 – 02/94

Joined the Army as an Aircraft Structural Repairer. Worked on various-types of Army helicopters such as the UH-60 Blackhawk, AH-64 Apache, OH-58A/C/D Kiowa, UH-1H Huey, AH-1 Cobra, and the CH-47 Chinook. I performed line and overhaul maintenance on all the above aircraft. Repaired cracks by fabricating the repair parts, laying out the rivet patterns, drilling and installing the repairs with solid or high lock fasteners and sealant. Spliced frames and stringers using sheet metal standard practices. Inspected aircraft during phase maintenance and wrote up work orders, managed shop maintenance in order of priority. Repaired fiberglass and Kevlar cowlings, replaces windows and windscreens, and repaired stainless steel firewalls.

EDUCATION

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY, CARBONDALE, IL

I was working on Bachelors in Aviation Management with a Minor in Aviation Maintenance, and a Minor in Aviation Flight. I received my private pilot’s license and was working on my instrument rating when I was no longer able to afford my flight fees and had is discontinue my time at SIU.
