Current District of Columbia Government Environment Protection Specialist with ten plus years of specialized experience, in Program Management and Environmental suitability and education programs. Having worked in various capacities of the Department of Energy and Environment

(DOEE) I possess a high level of expertise in administrative and project management, communication and outreach, and articulation of best practices of the organization as a whole to various targeted audiences.

EXPERIENCE

District Department of the Environment June 2018-Present Office of Lead-Safe and Healthy Housing Washington, DC 20002 Environmental Protection Specialist (Inspector)

Currently serving as an Environmental Protection Specialist in the Licensing and Certification Branch of the District Department of the Environment. In this capacity, I work alongside a team of two individuals whom are solely responsible for water inspections and water assessments of over 400 District of Columbia licensed Child/Day Care Facilities. In this position, I plan, develop, implement and maintain a water sampling enforcement program lead by the Government of the District of Columbia Water programs. My day-to-day duties consist of the execution of water quality sampling, testing, and analysis to determine compliance with both federal and state standards. These tasks includes the collection, review, analysis, reporting, evaluation all while providing corrective measure if required of water sampling data. After collections are complete I then am able to provide advice on site assessments and offer corrective action plans for contaminated locations, properly tagging sources of water that should not be used and providing new filters quickly and as needed. In addition to these tasks, I am responsible for providing enforcement actions, including notices of violation and stop work orders. It is my responsibility to provide each site specific detailed instructions on their water supply in efforts to educate the Child Care Facility staff to become knowledgeable, understand the importance of clean water and remain compliant with DDOE regulations. This position requires a high level of detail and communication via phone, email and in person interaction. Due to my contact with countless Daycare facility managers and owners, I am expert at maintaining and cultivating business relationships and deliver best practices.

Additional day-to-day duties include the following:

• Assist in water-related system improvement projects.

• Host outreach and educational sessions on the DDOE organization and various programs.

• Delivers water samples to the laboratory for analysis, ensures the required documentation for each sample is complete, and correct.

• Monitors sampling schedule daily to ensure the timely completion of sampling.

• Monitors sampling supplies and maintain adequate inventory to support the sampling program.

• Maintains records related to water quality sampling.

• Creation of spreadsheets, field data forms, and other project tracking documents. Prepare documentation (reports, correspondence, photographs, data entry, and forms) in a timely and accurate manner.

District Department of the Environment November 2012-June 2018 Office of Regulatory Review Division Washington, DC 20002 Program Support Specialist

As Program Support Specialist for DDOE I provided daily quality control and agency review of over 1,000 development project exemptions associated with the District of Columbia’s Green Area Ratio regulation process. This program was primarily responsible for environmental sustainability zoning regulations that set standards for landscape and site design to help reduce stormwater runoff, improve air quality and maintain safe environmental standards in the District of Columbia. In this role, I served as primary liaison amongst constituents and management regarding the Districts permits systems including DCRA’s Accela and DDOE’s Stormwater database. I made constant recommendations and provided valuable feedback to management for improved user functions within our databases. In this role, it was mandatory that I build and maintain partnerships with community organizations to successfully align sustainability and environmental goals with community priorities. Developed and maintained management information systems which helped to identify the location of hazardous materials in all facilities. Investigated employee complaints concerning exposure to hazardous materials or air pollutants. Maintained accurate records related to chemical inventories, complaint investigations, and shipments of hazardous wastes. Performed related field work as required, maintenance of operation and inspection logs. Responsible for submitting clear and concise written reports based on field inspections.

Located in the Office of Enforcement & Environmental Justice, my daily duties consist of the preparation and organization of confidential files pertaining to and working with and knowledge of statutes, regulations, permit/licensing requirements and precedent decision governing environmental operations sufficient to use in planning, implementing, and monitoring local environmental compliance programs, environmental management systems, and pollution prevention programs for the District of Columbia.
