As a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant I assist my supervising Occupational Therapist in establishing short-term and long-term goals that are appropriate to meet the individual needs of my assigned patients. Discussions with my patients/family/caregivers help to determine a treatment plan focusing on patients’ needs in order to perform functional tasks independently. I participate and contribute to interdisciplinary rehabilitation team in a post-acute, long-term and rehabilitation environment. Activities include therapeutic exercises to improve sensory and perceptual skills for upper extremity function. Exercises and activities to improve fine/gross motor coordination that increase the ability to perform self-care tasks including hygiene, bathing, dressing, transfers, eating, and homemaking.
