Flux Core welder

Welding structural beams of various sizes with 5.64 flux core wire according to the welding procedure on blueprint. The type welds range from 3/16", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 7/16", 1/2", up to 2 1/8" and some of the structural beams or plates call for CJP (Complete Joint Penetration) weld. Depending on the thickness of the metal; most beams requires preheating up to 250ºF using a temp stick. After welding procedure is finished the welds are cleaned by grinding BB's from the heel/toe of welds with a scraper or a 4"grinder.

Fitter

Fabricating structural beams according to the blueprint which consisted of:

*Reading tape measure and laying out plates

*Calculating angles, slopes, running dimensions

*trimming/ cutting metal with a torch

* tacking, welding, grinding

*writing weld symbols

stick/mig welder

I worked as a crew leader fabricating oil tank bottoms that held from 210, 300, 400, 500 barrels of oil in size. This included: measuring, using a cutting torch, fitting couplings / door, and welding with 5p or Jet rod. I also, skillfully Mig welded on pressure vessels for this employer. When welding on the heads of the vessel it required a MIG root and stick all the way out using 7018 jet rods. Often times, I had to build my own parts prior to vessel fabrication.

Entry level welder

Grinding, tacking, welding, and operating overhead cranes etc. All of these duties had to be performed in the final stage of constructing a high pressure boiler. In the final stage I was a part of a crew who welded the frame out with Mig, setting the roof panels, tacked on nails for installation, put in installation, screwed on lagging, and welded boiler down to the railroad cart for shipping.
