Technical skills:

Defining, implementing and monitoring the IPC plan for COVID-19 treatment center and setting up regular monitoring mechanisms for IPC activities, analyzing the results, identifying priorities and proposing solutions when necessary.

• Performs regular surveillance for all healthcare associated infections in all hospital areas (SSI, CLABSI, UTI, CAUTI and KPI).

• Make appropriate statistics and reports and recommend correction actions when necessary.

• Investigate unacceptably high infection rates (in comparison to benchmark) or outbreaks, that may occur in patients/and or staff.

Providing technical supervision and expertise, support, training and guidance to the staff on IPC related issues using WHO tools such as audits, checklist, surveillance, etc. and developing training plan and materials as required.

• Organize and supervise all the item distributions that might occur during the implementation of hygiene promotion sessions/events and communication campaigns.

• Participate actively and constructively in team meetings.

• Promotes health education amongst patients, visitors and staff.

• Provides advice when requested concerning infection control aspects of management of patients with infections requiring special care.

• Advises all hospital staff about related infection control matters when necessary.

• Coordinate with Employee Health Clinic Team to ensure compliance of all staff with the required policies.

• Excellent working knowledge of microbiology, infection prevention control (IPC) principles, sterilization practices and inventory management.

Setting up mechanisms for the implementation and monitoring of the adherence to additional precautions for air, droplet and contact transmissible diseases when indicated, and specific COVID related policies, adapting general guidelines to the health facility realities, putting isolation algorithms in place and ensuring adequate nosocomial outbreak detection and response.

Guaranteeing compliance to aseptic care techniques and to the correct use of antiseptics, disinfectants and detergents.
