Duties: Conveyors, Mixers, Crushers, Bucket Elevators, Bearings, Taper locks and Pump Started my Apprenticeship at CONSOL glass. I worked in the Batch plant as a fitter. In this time my duties included working on compressors Joy and ER8 piston compressors as well as the alignment of couplings. Additional duties included working on conveyors, incline conveyors, bucket elevators replacements, working on screw feeders replacing and fit new blades, working on lowriders, invertors, mixers replacing blades and set speeds, working on crushers, replacements of chains, belts. Further to this I replaced old shafts bearings and sprockets on shutdowns. Started working on the highspeed production line, replacing broken transfer belts, gearboxes, drive sprocket, working on production equipment replacing broken parts, fix and timings on equipment. I worked on mask palletisers and de- palletisers, spray units, did changing of line speeds on a change over and on packing line machine, as well as changing of change parts.

I started by career at Nampak in the production lines and was later transferred to the maintenance workshop. Here I was working on fine setting on the production line as well as working on krons, asepack and msc inspection equipment. I was later exposed to working on a sentence compressor. I was then sent to Germany for training. Training involved palletisers, rappers, inspection equipment, set speeding on a production line and plc.do job change on machines, changing parts on production equipment as well as basic fitting work on a production line. Thereafter I was sent to France for in depth training on troubleshooting and this was where I became a machine specialist on all the production equipment. Based on the passion I have for the machines I started give training to the employees on new and old machines and became the Foreman of the workshop. As the Foreman my duties included meetings with staff and planning the jobs at hand, giving job cards as well as inspect the jobs. I later became a specialise on the cold end side (packaging and inspection machines) this transpired into me becoming a became job change co-ordinate which entailed making sure the line makes target of 90%. Whilst going out to the customers as well.

Working on fillers, Capers & Labellers (Krons & Hema), working on cane, glass as well as the pet lines. I then worked on the palatize and de-palatize for cane, glass and pet. Work ACEPAK & KRONS Packing Machines included:

• Labeller Machine (vertical horizontal) Case packer My journey started in the workshop for 6 months on seamers, I then moved to the production line based on my experience in glass and had to assist in starting up the new mayo factory as well as train staff on glass defects. In this time, I worked on packaging equipment (ace Pak and Krono’s) as well as PA which is a production artisan. I was given training from the people overseas on the wrappers, sleeve shrink, case pacers, Hamon fillers, cappers as well as the labellers. My role entailed job changes on the equipment, change parts, fillers caps, bottom plats, worms. filling tubs. Working on de-palletisers(cut) palletisers (ace pack) robot(kroon’s). Based on my experience that I had built up I started working on the Pet line from de-pal, transferring line sensors and cans as well as glass production lines. I had to opportunity to work on the boxing machine.
