Provide expert level care for newborns and postpartum women assuring timely assessments, monitoring of physical and psychological concerns, and administration of prescribed interventions to foster a seamless transition for new families. Administer immediate care for the newborn following delivery including maintaining warmth and initiating breastfeeding for the mother. Highly proficient in providing breastfeeding education inclusive of latch-on techniques and positioning to minimize complications for the mother while ensuring proper nutrients to the baby. Instruct and support new parents on how to safely care for their newborn including bathing, feeding, post-hospital follow up care, and vaccination requirements. Guide new mothers on postpartum care needs including pain management, voiding/stooling, physical and psychological changes to watch for, healing processes, and when higher level assistance may be needed to encourage long term optimal, positive health outcomes.

Instrumental member of a multidisciplinary team providing individualized nursing care for neonates and their families through the delivery of therapeutic and preventative interventions to optimize health outcomes. Conducted comprehensive assessments of newborns and postpartum women to identify patient care needs.
