Assessed the risk factors that could compromise the safety of the monitor or their clients during all visits. Established boundaries and parameters that promoted safety and protection in a controlled environment. Cognizant of the interaction between parent and child, affection, and level of comfort of the child. Always being within hearing and visual range. The goal was to reunite and educate non-custodial parents by developing parenting skills, that would facilitate and reestablish the trust between parent and child(ren). Observed and evaluated any external influences that would cause any undue stress on the child(ren) during the visit. Enforced court orders and the rules established by the California Rules of Court. Prepared detailed written documentation and reports for the courts, attorneys, and parents. The reports included dates, times, and all observations that seemed inappropriate as well as productive observations. Base on the reports the magistrate would determine if the noncustodial parent would remain on monitored visits or terminate monitoring. Testified at hearings when warranted. The greatest accomplishment was getting 97% of my clients off visitation and reuniting them with their children. Helping parents find better coping skills and developing better communication between all parties.
Educational Advocate
Riverside County Department of Public Social Services Office of Education - Riverside, CA March 2013 to April 2017
This was a volunteer program and I trained to assist underserved foster care children. I worked with students in the foster care system that were diagnosed with learning disabilities, from mild, moderate to serious cognitive impairments. I advocated for these children with special needs to have all the resources available to them. I collaborated with social workers, group homes, mental health experts, teachers and IEP specialist to develop educational plans that were conducive to learning and behavior change. Collected data, recorded progress through detailed reports, charted data through observation and note taking. Attended group home meetings, IEP conferences, and monitored progress through logs, progress reports, report cards, and psychological reports. I had the opportunity to sit in the classroom and observe various styles of teaching and learning. I was privy to how each child interacted with the teacher and their classmates. Written reports were used to gage the advances made by each child. Educational and behavioral progress was reported to the courts, written recommendations were based on observations, interactions, behavior and the child’s ability to self-regulate. These factors also determined what children would benefit from being placed in a foster home environment versus a group home.

Institute for Behavioral Health- Redlands, February 2015 to September 2015
Implemented ABA programs with various consumers in a 1:1 therapy session at the respective client’s residence or a designed location. The use of verbal, gestural, visual, modeling and physical cues were implemented depending on the level of cognitive response, the child’s age and cognitive ability. When working with nonverbal autistic children and adolescents the strategy is different. Encouraging play and social interaction, through imitation of sounds. Allowing a child to show what they are interested in, and you become the narrator of what they are doing. Single words and simplicity are always key when communicating with a nonverbal child. Performed reinforcement assessments to determine what peaked a child’s interest and what triggered a negative response. Collected data and recorded all progress through detailed notes and behavior charting.
Behavioral Specialist Special Education
California Polytechnic University- Pomona - Pomona, CA January 2008 to June 2010
Created curriculum that engaged students with learning and behavioral issues. Set attainable goals that enhanced the relationship between students, teachers, parents, guardians or caretakers. Formulated coping skills that assisted students with their day to day and school interactions. This enabled the student to resolve conflicts with others, while maintaining their ability to regulate their emotions in a positive manner. Analyzed situations that caused children with learning or behavioral difficulties to act out and become disruptive in class. Applied techniques that reinforced positive behavior and deterred repeated negative behavior.
Teacher Assistant/ Writing Tutor

Worked closely with Counselors and the English Department Faculty to help establish various programs that focused on promoting the success of all students, while closely working with first generation minority college students. This program emphasized academic excellence and support to assist students through tutoring, mentoring, and writing projects. The goal was to make students become critical thinkers and better writers. This was instituted by forming study groups, time management and writing proficiency.
