>Responsible for closely observing patients, noting specific procedure and prescribed
medications for each case.
>Perform the duties of an ICU nurse and cares for critically ill patients.
>Provide care to patients through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention,
and implementation.
>Assists doctors in providing physical assessment and administering treatments.
>Monitor vital signs and ensures the proper functions of feeding tubes, ventilators, catheters
and other support equipment.
>Attend to the patients overall needs, such as feeding, bathing and grooming, dressing
replacement, medication intake, and comfort.
>Evaluate patients progress and modified plan.
>Provide support and education to the patients family, answering questions, and giving vital
instructions on how to care for the patients.
>Communicate with patient, significant others, and health team members.
>Implement discharge planning and provide health care evaluation to the patient and
significant other to promote recovery.
>Document assessments, re-assessments, treatments, and other interventions according to
patients presenting condition.
>Strictly enforce no visitation on certain critical cases or in general in accordance with
hospital rules and policy for intensive care patients.
>Observe work shift schedules and extends if necessary for overtime work.
>Assess patients pain levels and administer sedation as prescribed by the attending physician.
>Set-up and monitor instruments tracking patients vital signs for changes in status and
indications of conditions.
>Administer prescribed medications intravenously, orally, through gastric tubes, or by other
approved methods.
>Administer defibrillator and life resuscitation methods immediately in cases of sudden
cardiac arrest.
>Administer blood transfusions and blood product as necessary.
>Assists surgeons do minor bedside operative procedures such as emergency tracheostomy.
>Strictly impose intake and output monitoring and accurately record data.
