Responsibilities as Assistant Engineer
Before furnace
To study HOT MILL process sheet properly
To check mother hollow length in range according to process sheet
Set the charging time in SCADA according to mother hollow length. WBF (Walking beam furnace)
Set the furnace temperature according to process sheet
Check once cycle operation it will work properly. SRM (Strength Reducing Mill)
To ensure stands checking depends upon sizes
Stand selection as per pipe / tube size wise.
(i) Selection of stand according size of rolling checking mills, water line, clean stands and gear checking.
Machine trial and operation
Descaler pressure should be maintain 60kg/cm2
Select the speed code from SCADA screen
Start hydraulic, lubrication blow select control on. Reset then select jog match the gear with stand using reverse and forward when gear is matched than command machine. Machine to run.
Check motor RPM on screen
Command to restart runout conveyor, cooling bed & ensure Ist, IInd kick out properly working. Sample checking
First take whatever may be size of mother hollow in WBF furnace for sample checking
To be cut middle sample of third pipe using gas cutter (300mm) and checking OD wall thickness and pipe surface as per the process sheet. Then sample is OK then mill start.
To ensure overseeing pipe length on cooling bed. Batch Saur I & II trial operation
To check cutter teeth condition
To ensure hydraulic lubrication on position
To check horizontal clamp and vertical clamp pressure
To ensure motor rpm
Cutter rpm should be range 28-30 rpm
Select feed according to OD & WT as per norms
Check visually inlet conveyor, outlet conveyor crop table cradle kick out stopper
To ensure tail end / front end OK condition
To cut pipe length as per process sheet
To ensure bundles making and transfer finishing line I & line II according to size wise
Goods in material movements from HOT MILL to OCTG plant Highlights
Goods knowledge of ISO / TC documentation
Knowledge of 5 s kanban, kaizen, lean manufacturing
Responsible to achieve production and quality target according to plan
Coordinate with quality department to ensure the quality of products manufactured
Managing manpower of approx 20 people.
Quality Inspection
To ensure visual inspection per hourly (OD defects, line mark, spiral mark, step mark, dent, OD press and ID defects)
To ensure / check pipe weight per hourly
To ensure each bundle should be maintain color coding depends upon grade wise
To ensure each and every heat mentioned (Minimum 3Pcs) on pipe heat NO and to make sample report and deliver to tool.
