PROJECT WORK

• Design and fabrication of Frictionless Plummer block bearing To reduce wear and tear and noise on working conditions and to improve accuracy of bearing, air bearing was introduced, and it was tested on Plummer block bearing by our teammate’s four members. Materials we selected are stainless steel and graphite. Outer casing around the graphite is made up of stainless steel. When High-pressure air is sent through casing and air is circulated evenly around the graphite since it is a porous medium. This high-pressure air makes a thin filmy layer around outer surface of graphite to hold rotating part as a bearing.

• Design and fabrication of leaf spring operated fan One end of rotating shaft of fan is fitted with cam and other end is connected with fan leaf. In the cam fixed end, a leaf spring is contacted like cam shaft in IC Engines when we give high starting torque to fan it continuously runs at permissible speed according to design specs.
