To Whom it may concern,
After carefully reviewing the opening at your establishment, I am submitting my resume for consideration of the position. I am confident that my skill set, qualifications and dedication to client care align with your companies needs. I am a highly motivated individual with a unique combination of interpersonal skills, clinical reasoning, and the ability to make therapy not only purposeful, but meaningful. My strong communication skills allows me to not only build trust and rapport with my clients and their families, but allows me to initiate and engage in colloberative and productive dynamics with fellow peers and staff.
As you will see in my resume, my fieldwork alotted me a wide variety of settings to learn and gain experience. I am comfortable in any setting and enjoy giving quality therapy to all populations. I myself have raised a 22 year old son with Autism, so I know the importance and impact that meaningful therapy can have for a client. I feel my life experience gives me a better understanding of my clients needs that is unique and genuine.
My education highlights all of my academic achievments, but what my resume will not tell you about me, is that I was using adaptive techniques, task analysis and sensory intergration long before I stepped foot into a class room. Raising my son into the amazing man he has become speaks volumes about my determination and drive that a diploma or report card never could. They said he’d never talk, speak or be able to take care of himself. We proved them wrong, together. I don’t know if I was born to be an OT or I became an OT when my son was born. All I do know is OT is more than just a job to me, it’s a reflection of my own life’s journey and a medium that I can express my desire to improve the quality of life for any and all who need it. It gives me the opportunity to use my skills of creativity, problem solving and my unique ability to think outside of the box.
My education and experience makes me an ideal candidate for this job. My character, dedication and strong interpersonal skills would make me a valuable member to your team. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss my qualifications with you further. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call or email me.
Sincerely,
Brandy M. Powers OTRL
