To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to express my interest in the HR position. I feel I possess the skills, drive and determination needed to be successful in this position. I think it will be a great blend of my school administration experience and my HR experience.
I began my career as a teacher in Buncombe County Schools immediately after earning my first degree in Elementary Education from Western Carolina University. I was a leader in the classroom and in the county and led many workshops and staff development sessions and trained student teachers. I returned to Western Carolina and earned two more degrees. I earned my master’s degree in Elementary Education and my Master’s Degree in School Administration, as a North Carolina Principal Fellow. After ten years in the classroom, I advanced my career to become an assistant principal, a principal and Special Services Administrator with Buncombe County Schools, and retired after 25 years of service. Since retiring, I have worked in Human Resources with the Salvation Army of Asheville and most recently left my position with Eliada Homes as the Director of Human Resources. Now more than ever, during this time of global crisis, I have the skills needed and I am ready for a place I can grow, work with a team, and organization whose core values and goals.
I am the missing element you need on your team! I am highly organized, possess excellent public relations skills, take initiative, and work well within deadlines. I have experience responding to a crisis or high-pressure situation effectively and I am able to think and act quickly to resolve any issue that might arise. I have years of experience supervising others and working within set policies and procedures and/or developing policies. I know how important it is to be self-reflective and make changes and adjustments based upon current best practices and research. I am skilled in collecting and analyzing data and fully recognize that research and data can be powerful tools. I know connecting with others and building a relationship with stakeholders and my team is so powerful.
My wife and I have been lifelong members of Buncombe County and we are currently raising our four children here, so I am well connected within the community. I am motivated and enjoy the challenge of a new position and feel my years of experience would be an asset.
I would very much like the opportunity to come in for an interview. I can make myself available to come in and speak with you at your convenience. I have included a copy of my resume with all my contact information. I appreciate any consideration. I look forward to hearing from you. You are welcome to call at any time as well – 828-***-****.
Sincerely,
Gardner M. Bridges
