SKILLS & ABILITIES
I am able to communicate effectively with litigates and staff members internally and externally to build robust and trustworthy working relationships within my department and external departments. Having vast knowledge of all areas in the Family Court Commissioner's office has allowed me to use that knowledge to train new employees and create an employee handbook which is still being used.
EXPERIENCE
MILWAUKEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
February 2001- February 2008
The positions at the Sheriff department required daily rotation which I spent the first three years of my employment moving between job duties listed below–
Visiting lobby-checking family and friends into the Jail to visit the inmates (making sure visitation rules were being followed)
Jail records-answering all incoming calls from family/friends regarding inmate information (court dates, bail money & sentences). Tele-communication from other jurisdictions regarding active warrants.
Pre-Book /Booking/Search- this position was in the 'sally port' where arrested individuals were booked & searched. These jobs were to input personal information into the jail computer system and log personal items.
The 4th years I was promoted to Court Disposition- in this position, I entered all the Court Orders pertaining to inmates that went to court that day. I entered cash bail amounts, PRB (personal recognizance bond) amounts, future court dates, and sentencing. And answered all incoming calls from the Courts and assistance the Deputies with jail releases.
MILWAUKEE COUNTY FAMILY COURT COMMISSIONER’S OFFICE
February 2008-February 2022
Support Court Clerk- my main job was to make entries in the Ccap (consolidated court automation programs) system from the Court Commissioner's daily Orders. Answer incoming calls from litigates regarding filing paperwork, next court date, explaining current Order and directing them to other departments if needed. If applicable, I would enter the Order, add returning court date, scan the Orders into Ccap, and forward Orders to Child Support Department for scanning into their Wisconsin database system.
Calendar Desk Clerk- after one year, I requested to be trained at the Calendar desk. This area ensure that paperwork was completed correctly by ligates before scheduling court dates for Motions, Order to Show Cause for Contempt, and Temporary Orders, Change of Venue, Paternity Acknowledgement, and Divorces paperwork. Receiving incoming paperwork from attorneys and litigates (Retainer, Firearm Return, Mediation request, and more). I answer income calls regarding court dates-removal, rescheduled, or adjourned date/time. Comparing, checking, and correcting Ccap with the calendar books before printing.
Check-In Desk- checking in attorneys, litigates, and Guardian at Liem (GAL) for court scheduled that day, providing the correct paperwork to be completed before hearing, scheduling court dates for Harassment, Child Abuse, and Domestic Abuse. And answering income calls related to phone hearing and taking the phone number.
2012-Promoted to Court Operation Supervisor (retired from position)
- Train new staff to assist in the development/implementation of new procedures. Maintaining all FCC calendars (no overbooked calendars, using removed court date times as needed, making sure calendars are closed due to conferences or vacations). Inmate phone request (setting up, logging hearing on excel program I created, email Commissioners and Deputy Court Clerks weekly with inmate information scheduled for that week). Updating and maintaining the Cash Bail Warrant calendars needed by the Jail bi-weekly. Providing E-file cases for new divorces dismissal dates and temporary order dates and scanning in Ccap. Interacting with another department (child support/clerk of courts/cashier) daily regarding paperwork, court dates, and general questions. Cover area when a staff member calls in. Order supplies for the office, update/maintain the clerical staff calendar, process incoming mail, and other duties as assigned.
