Voltage sag/swell disturbances are the most frequently occurring Power Quality problems in the distribution system.For a Sag condition, i.e, the input voltage is lesser than the rated voltage, the tap changing transformer tends to act as a step up transformer to boost up the voltage. Accurately 40v to 60v step up process is done in that condition.For an normal condition i.e, if the input voltage is equal to the rated voltage then the tap changing transformer tends to act as a 1:1 transformer. There will not be any change in the output side.For an Swell condition, i.e, if the input voltage is greater than the rated voltage then the tap changing transformer tends to act as a Step down transformer to buck the voltage of from 80v to 60v.
