PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
5/2015 to present
Mohs Technician, Histology Technician, Central Ohio Skin & Cancer
I perform all duties in the Mohs lab three to five days a week. This includes all supply ordering, quality control procedures and record maintenance. When I am not in the Mohs lab I am one of three technicians in the routine skin and oral pathology lab. My main duties are grossing, embedding, microtomy, stainer operating and maintenance, hand cover slipping, and slide handout. Healthy communication between our Pathologists, co-workers, and outside laboratories for select stains and consultations are a regular part of my job.
7/2012 to 11/2014
Histology Technician, Adena Health System
I take on a wide array of duties in the small and growing Adena histology/cytology lab. I perform every aspect of routine histology workload, including manual special stains, test panels of new immunohistochemical stains, and troubleshoot any issues with all of the above. I perform cytology specimen collection and slide preparation in GYN and NON-GYN specimens as well as process cytology specimens. We are a CAP approved lab and I have been a part of our lab’s preparation for CAP inspection.
8/2007 to 2/2012
Histology Technician / Physician Extender, AmeriPath Laboratories
In my four years at AmeriPath I held the responsibilities of gross pathology, tissue processing, embedding tissue blocks, microtomy, tissue staining, and processing patient requisitions. I upheld a high degree of accuracy and organization in the many facets of laboratory work-flow while maintaining the integrity for patient care and work volume. I was heavily relied upon to independently complete gross pathology and maintain instrumental communication with staff pathologists.
