Involved in the development and drafting of Education papers as directed by the director of the Institute of Caribbean Studies (ICS) in collaboration with the program initiatives of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the US Caribbean Strategic Engagement Act, Public Law 114-129, HR4939. As Education Chairman for ICS, spearheaded Forum programs on Capitol Hill, Washington, DC with thought leaders in government, academia, private sector, developmental organizations, as well as finance and investment teams.
Involved in meetings with American and Caribbean policymakers and industry experts to forge and develop new partnerships for emerging opportunities in the Caribbean region per the stipulations of the (ICS) Director. Support and be involved in other Caribbean Diaspora initiatives sponsored by (ICS) on Capitol Hill to promote increased awareness of the emerging trends, business opportunities, and challenges in the business sector in the Caribbean. Authored the Education pillar of HR4939 US Caribbean Strategic Act companion paper which was adopted by the US Congress as a supplemental document to the Bill.
Actively involved in shaping the Education pillar of HR4939 and offer recommendations to the US State Department to promote the engagement of Caribbean tertiary institutions through partnerships with diaspora Caribbean-American professionals and to support US-funded technical assistance initiatives in the areas of leadership, management, and entrepreneurship capacity building from inception through execution and evaluation of effectiveness.
As an ICS Education member, continuing to work with the State Department through its Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) to promote a host of Education-focused initiatives covered during the HR4939 activities of the National Caribbean American Heritage Month (June 2020). In the full listing, the educational recommendations are duly incorporated into the ICS companion paper to the US State Department, “Securing our Common Future: Toward Implementation of a Dynamic US/Caribbean Strategic Engagement Agenda.”
